Beach Cove Apartments

I lived here for two years. Yes, the walls are a bit thin and there is definately an ant problem (although we never complained about it so I can´t say if the office would have been helpful). They definately try to get you on the security deposit. I suggest anyone moving out check out http://www.dca.ca.gov/legal/landlordbook/sec-deposit.htm <b has guidelines for returning a security deposit. Turns out they are allowed to charge for some cleaning, but it is illegal to charge any fee to every tenant regardless of the condition you leave the apartment in. Our place was very clean when we left. We called and contested the amount they deducted, and they refunded the entire amount - the phone call ony took 10 minutes and some persistance on my part.
Yes, it´s a bit of a scam they are running, but I´m not convinced they are the only ones.
Overall, it was not a bad place to live. Recently remodeled kitchens (small, but neat)and good closet space are a plus. When we looked, we would have had to spend about $200 more a month for anything appreciably nicer. I´ve given up expecting a pleasant office staff - the ones at my new place are nicer, but they still don´t get anything done.
