Hardwood floors are great, right? They're easy to clean, and the apt. complex doesn't have to change them out between tenants, like they did with carpeting. How can you lose?
Well, for another thing, they reflect sound instead of absorbing it like carpets do. There are a lot of tenants of certain cultures (who seem like they may now be a majority of the tenants here) who have a habit of slamming doors, cabinets, closet doors, drawers, and all other types of doors. This comes out as BOOM, especially when it is done after midnight. Also, when they walk barefoot across the floor, there's always one of the pair of them who THUDS when they walk. Once again, it's not nice when they do it a lot after midnight. Slamming cabinet doors comes out as THUD-THUD-THUD.
This is my 3rd set of these people, and I'm SICK of it! Why haven't they learned how to be quiet and considerate of their neighbors both to their sides and below them?
Are hardwood floors even legal to have in apartments, considering the quiet laws of the state?
