NOTE TO ALL EVEN THINKING ABOUT renting at any ESSEX PROPERTY... City View Apartments is simply one of the Essex Properties NIGHTMARES! The tenants at nearly ALL Essex Properties say the same thing. Look up other Properties Like Briarwood in Fremont, Davey Glen Apartments in Belmont, The Commons in Campbell, The Belvedere in Tiburon, Canyon Oaks at Windemere in San Ramon etc..... Review links below: Links: http://www.yelp.com/biz/briarwood-at-central-park-fremont http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/CA-Belmont-Davey-Glen-Apartments.html http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/CA-Campbell-Commons-Apartments-formerly-Lincoln-Gate.html http://www.yelp.com/biz/vista-belvedere-tiburon http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/CA-San-Ramon-Canyon-Oaks-at-Windemere.html I lived at City View Apartments in the Hayward Hills and everyone I have met here in my complex has moved after only 1 single year!! And ALL the complaints are the same. They claim you can "MAKE IT YOUR HOME"!! B.S.!!! They will "KICK YOU TO THE CURB" as soon as they can make a buck more! I lived in my last place 9 years! Now after 1 year here at an ESSEX Property I have to move because they increased my rent over $300. I am a single parent! This is soooooo EVIL! I've had NIGHTMARES that they have told me I have 1 day to move or it will cost me $10,000! Talk about anxiety!!! Also, they make you pay for all the revamping for their next tenants. Example: paint and supplies, rug, linoleum (if it was old and they want to replace it...they will find a way to charge you!!). I can go on and on but all I can say is that I ignored the reviews for City View. When I brought it up to the manager she replied that nobody ever leaves positive reviews they only leave negative. I wanted to believe her because I LOVED the resort like grounds! Basically, its Like the wicked witch's beautiful apple. It looks perfect and delicious to eat, but if you bite into it... YOU WILL get poisoned! So, if you take the time to really research/review Essex and this complex, heed the "WARNINGS" and listen to your GUT!! Common things to look for in the many negative reviews: 1) They charge what ever they want for AUM Sewage and Water bill!!! No meters they just "divide the bill. What??? There was a family of five below me, 4 next door, 3 below in my building. How is that fair when its just me and my son?? I paid $100 a month for a 2 bedroom with 2 people and NO washer/dryer in unit! Just a RIPP OFF!!! 2) HORRIBLE laundry facility. ALWAYS broke and probably as old as the complex. Destroyed several loads of my clothes. I tried to do my laundry elsewhere when I was paying for water and a high rent! 3) Snotty staff. They seem programmed to say the same thing. 4) When you move out they either send you an additional bill or they take your deposit. I scrubbed all walls, had my carpets cleaned not a stain left and scrubbed every inch of the apartment. Everyone that saw it said it looked like no one ever lived in it. It sparkled! Basically no complaints when we did a walk through...YET, they only sent me $157.00 back!!!!!!!!! Are U KIDDING???? They could have rented it out right then and there!!!!!!! They said they had cleaning charges no matter how clean it was. And light paint no matter how clean the walls looked!!!! BS!! 5) PARKING... NO PARKING!!!!!!!!! I paid $50 a month for another parking spot. Which someone else always seemed to park in. I'd get off work late & home by 10pm only to have someone else parked in my $50 spot!! Constantly! 6) Walls are SO thin you can talk thru them. College kids have no respect and are LOUD and have parties often! And even whe you report it NOTHING gets done! Only positive was that I loved the grounds. But honestly it was NOT worth all the negatives and the nickle and diming going on. I now have an amazing 1700sq ft, 3 bedroom Town house nestled in the Hayward Hills, with a pool, tennis courts 2 car garage, deer and other wild life around. 2 balconies, back yard, washer/dryer in my unit and sewage/water PAID FOR!!! I pay the same rent as what I paid at City View for ALLOT less! So, do your research and find a place you can REALLY call home!
