I really had high hopes for this apartment complex because the inside was really nice! I rented one of the two bedrooms with the loft. I loved the spiral staircase to the loft and I loved how modern everything looked. Unfortunately, that is where my happiness ended. I want to preface this by saying that it is not the management's fault per se. The problem at this complex is the noisy college kids and the overall "trashy" folk that rent there. The management cannot move the college away from the complex. The management cannot necessarily turn down a commission check because the potential renter seems a bit "trashy". That would not make good business sense and I get that. However, I think young professionals and families should be warned about what they are getting into. The noise level late at night is ridiculous. Most of the apartments border the complex parking garage. The college kids come home late at night/early morning bumping the music, slamming their car doors, screeching the tires, and screaming/giggling etc. Some will sit in their cars in the garage with the music blasting! All this is right outside your apartment. Of course you will hear it and wake up. The partying and loud music is a constant. Again, maybe not all apartments are surrounded by a loud group, but mine was. Again, I had the two bedroom with a loft. I had a noisy, partying, loud music playing guy below me and another next door. The guy two doors down from me was quiet and the family across/caddy corner was really nice and mostly quiet. So the odds are 50% that you will get a noisy loud partying person. Go ahead and risk it, but hopefully you will think twice. One of my bedrooms was next to the complex walkway and it was impossible to sleep with the noise of the college kids and trashy folks walking and giggling, screaming, yelling at all hours. I tried moving my bedroom to the loft to see if it would help. No such luck. I hate to generalize some folk as "trashy" but there are some people who think the rules are for everyone else but them. I don't know how else to describe them. For instance, a few times there were people MOVING in the middle of the night. They were slamming doors, yelling, rolling dolly back and forth, banging, etc. It was ridiculous. Another thing is that people would constantly refuse to throw their trash bags in the chute. They are so lazy that they would just dump it in the trash room. The poor trash guy would have to hose it down and deal with the disgusting people's mess and I would have to play a horrible game of twister to get my trash to the chute door without stepping in leaking trash bag mess. Another example is that some kid would ride her scooter up and down the complex walkway to the garage (which was right outside a bedroom) early in the morning making so much noise. I had a cat who would sit in the bedroom window and the kid would tap on the glass to scare the cat. Again, this is early in the morning and would wake me up.I actually approached the parent and told her about the complaints nicely. I understand kids are full of energy and figured the parent didnt know how inappropriate the behavior was so early in the morning. Well the parent told me to f--- off and mind my own business. Nice. This is the type of people you will be dealing with . Management is nice enough. If you complain, they tell you they will warn the offending individual. But I kept seeing the same people doing the same behaviors, so it left me wondering if there was any follow through. Also, the representatives are often out of the office or do not answer the phones. Getting a live person during the day is tough. Security is not onsite, btw. If you call with a noise complaint, you will often have to leave a message with your call back number and not talk with security. Yes, as the manager has said in previous responses, you can call the cops. I really do not want to live in a complex where I have to resort to calling the cops every night. That is stupid. I will just move to East LA for $500.00 per month instead of Irvine for $2800.00 per month if the suggestion is to call the cops. Bottom line is that when the noise happens, the damage is done. You're awake and annoyed. Again, I'm not blaming the management. This unfortunately is just the type of folk that live here due to the college being close.
