The walls and floors in these apartments are very thin. Although the complex has "quiet hours" between 10 PM and 8 AM, there is little regulation of noise otherwise. We have the misfortune to live above someone who owns a loud stereo with deep bass. As long he doesn't use it after 10 PM, the management seem more annoyed with our complaints than supportive of keeping the community quiet and happy.
This is a nice complex in a very beautiful part of Southern California -- we looked very hard to find a good location, at a fair price, that was pet friendly. We don't want to move. Nevertheless, I would strongly encourage anyone considering Laurel Terrace to ask many questions about the neighbors around any unit they are viewing. Make sure you can trust management to take sincere action on any issues that may come up.
