Resident 2009 - 2010

8/31/2010

Update, 8/31/10 I had to move unexpectedly from this complex for my job. Note to anyone who is considering apt. 147, it has an old cigarette odor that wafts in randomly. I had the HVAC filters changed and the dryer vent cleaned to try to alleviate this problem, but it persisted. The neighbors to the back are both smokers, so I guess there is no way to keep it from coming in. Monica and Brian have been great, and I will update with my deposit information (I left the apt. very clean, but with old management residents had great difficulty getting any deposit back). There continue to be quite a few more children at the complex which increases the noise levels. Update, 8/13/10 I had my first encounter with the new maintenance guy, Brian, and it was FABULOUS!! He was here for two hours and fixed everything that had not been working since I moved in. The previous management sent someone out multiple times and very few things got fixed. He even painted the spot where the paint chipped when he changed my AC filter! He is friendly and normal and was a pleasure to work with. He really knew what he was doing. Monica in the office responded to my email request promptly and set up the appointment with Brian right away. Thank you new management!!! Update, 8/10/10 Well, it isn't so quiet here anymore! After having many vacant apartments for a LONG time (due to former manager being difficult to work with) the new management has suddenly filled most of those with people who are loud and have multiple children. The complex is definitely much louder than before and the parking lot is much fuller. I tried out the hot tub the other night and at least it is hot now (formerly kept at barely lukewarm with old management) but the jets don't work well at all. Bummer. I love having a three-bedroom apartment at the price I am paying in this nice neighborhood. If my rent is significantly raised, I will probably move. These apartments are under new management effective 7/2010. I have been living here for a year, and I love it here! I just met one person from the new management and she was young, friendly, and a good listener. They are redecorating the front office area and improving the workout room, which I hope DOES NOT translate into higher rents! The pool is beautiful with a waterfall. The grounds are always very well maintained. My apartment is quite roomy and has full-size washer/dryer hookups, a fireplace, a tiny but complete kitchen (with OLD appliances, if new management changes that I will be forever grateful!). I rarely see any bugs and have never had ants and that makes me very happy. The walls are thin, the carpet is super cheap, the bedrooms other than the master are kinda small, the fixtures are from the 1980's, but these are things you find in lots of apartments. My apartment was freshly painted and very clean when I moved in. There is A LOT of extra parking for guests, at least near my apartment. It is in a very safe area across the street from the police station and the beautiful new(ish) library. The overall atmosphere of the place is VERY QUIET and the residents do seem to be an older bunch (40-plus in age) who pretty much keep to themselves. If you are a quiet professional looking for a REALLY NICE place in Livermore, you will be happy here.
