Resident 2009 - 2011

11/23/2011

Is there a rating for ZERO stars? I've been living here for 2 years now and while the location is great, the management and their policies are ridiculous. Every year they increase the rent to a level that is unreasonable. After the first year, we decided to deal with it since moving was such a hassle for us, but now that we're nearing the end of our second lease, we decided to purchase a home. As you can imagine, the escrow process takes a long time and Sakura was NOT willing to let us go on a month to month lease (even after I agreed to the "regular" monthly lease price). Not very accommodating at all. Apparently it's against their policy go to month to month...the minimum is a 6 month lease. My situation is very unfortunate, so for any of you who want more a little more flexibility once your lease ends, Sakura Crossing is NOT the place to be. To make matters worse, this complex uses the bait and switch method to attract their customers. I went online to look at the going rate for my exact unit and it was listed at $250 BELOW what I was paying. OK, I guess when I signed my lease previously, the market was different. So I asked the leasing office if they could show me which unit was the cheaper one. They had a dumb look on their face and said that it's no longer available. It seemed a little bit fishy so I pushed her a little more and asked her which unit it WAS. Still the dumb look on her face. At that point it became very apparent that the cheaper unit DOESN'T exist. Hmmmm.... Out of fairness here's a list of pros and cons: PROS - location is great and is close to plenty of good restaurants - facilities are decent, but they CHARGE you to use the club house (not just a deposit, but they charge you) - neighbors seem to be pretty cool (except for the USC students who are partying all night) CONS - Management's ridiculous policies - DO NOT consider living here if you plan on staying for more than 1 year because they'll hike up the rent by $200-$300 more each year - the fire alarm issue was REALLY annoying. At least 2-3 times a month, the fire alarm will sound between midnight and 5am. Very annoying. - Parking sucks: if you plan on going out on a Friday night, you might not come with to a parking spot. I had to park a few blocks down the street and walk back to Sakura - Floors and walls are VERY thin! Let's hope your neighbors don't walk with a heavy step - They CHARGE you to use the clubhouse...even after collecting all that rent - Bait and switch tactics - Disrespectful management (or at least the ones I've dealt with) If you have any other specific questions, please post us here and I would love to answer them for you.
