Resident 2009 - 2011

4/8/2011

We are leaving this horrible community as soon as we can! To start, things weren't so bad. However, things went downhill quickly. Parking has always been a nightmare from the beginning. Cars get towed with no warning, people have multiple cars when I have one and sometimes have to park elsewhere, and "security" that goes around doesn't even speak English, not to mention they just sit in their cars and stare at people. As far as safelisting a guests car, don't even think about it. You only get a few per month and a safelist doesn't even guarantee a spot! Our friends have had to park at the grocery store multiple times, how inconvenient! The management here used to be pretty good, now they are absolutely horrible. Trashy people on a power trip. The look down their noses condescendingly and treat us like we're in trouble or did something wrong. Their favorite word is "NO". They are incredibly unhelpful, the women especially. When we needed help with move out inspections, finding out information for parking, paying rent, packages, etc, or want to change a car registration we are met with hostility and attitude. Not what paying tenants deserve!!! As far as the apartments go, they are old and cramped and layouts don't make sense. Two master suites may be nice but just think, if a guest wants to use a bathroom they always have to go through someones bedroom. No privacy with that. There is absolutely no storage unless you want to keep all your belongings, and I mean EVERYTHING in your closets. The kitchens are tiny. No room for dry/canned food storage, or more than a pot and a pan or two. When we first moved in, I had a no shoes rule. As soon as ANYONE entered the door, shoes went off. I was adamantly strict about this, yet two months into living here, stains began showing up on our brand new carpets in every room. Either the carpets weren't new or they are horrible quality, but the carpets are in horrible condition despite vacuuming, steam cleaning and doing our best to keep them in good condition. They also blamed us for the stains of water damage by the sliding door when it was clear every time it rained that the carpet was damp to soaked depending on the downpour. As far as moving out, expect no money back. In fact, expect to pay a lot out of pocket! They have random charges and will bring in outside people (maids, painters, carpet) to do work, but can't tell you the rate or charge. We probably won't know what we're paying for this horrible carpet until our final day here. This cheap carpet was supposed to last 5 years (according to Avalon) but it hardly lasted 5 months. They prorate the cost per year and it is outrageous! Not to mention, the quality of life in this community since the good staff left. They let anyone live and work here! We don't feel safe anymore. I practically have to lock my doors to walk down the steps to do my laundry. There was a woman attacked a few months back and police were called but do we see the so called security more? Nope. One of our neighbors was also broken into and it seemed more like the management tried to cover it up rather than try to help. If you move here, you will not feel safe. People loiter in parking lots, dig through the trash, kids aren't watched and are allowed to scream at the top of their lungs at all hours. For being in one of the safest cities in So Cal, this community often makes me feel like I am in the ------ in Santa Ana. Seriously, I thought I could live with all the bad reviews this place had but take this seriously. I thought "how bad could it really be?" But seriously... Stay away! You'll regret moving in. You can find so many more apartments in the area for the same price, maybe a little bit more that is SO much more worth your money. These apartments are in horrible condition, the office staff is rude and unhelpful, and we had an overall miserable time of living here.
