Resident 2007 - 2008

2/2/2009

I lived here with my husband for a year and we really enjoyed it. The only reason we left was the location was a bit too far south for our needs, and we were so tempted to use the toll roads it was costing us an additional $150 per month. However, I would definitely recommend the comlex to anyone, especially if you really want a quiet place to live. Granted, our apartment did not look out over the toll road (I-241), so we were lucky. The town home style apartment was amazing, it was like we had our own home with attached garage and everything. There's plenty of storage space in the garage off to the side, which was great for us because we had a lot of extra furniture. The apartment interiors are nothing to write home about (no "flashy" granite or stainless steel appliances or wood flooring), but at the time the price was in the range we wanted to pay. The complex is very safe, very quiet, and close to all shopping/dining needs. The only complaints about the complex would be the "gym," (it's really a joke), which has one treadmill and I think one bike and an old weight lifting machine. Overal, the gym's about the size of a walk-in closet. The solution to that problem though was the 24-hour fitness located about 10 minutes away. The other complaint would be the tandem parking garage that came with our unit. Our cars were a bit long, making it extremely difficult to maneuver them both into the garage. We decided to park one car outside and leave one in the garage; however, the community passed a rule that did not allow town home residents to park outside their garages. I understand the rule completely (a lot of residents were using their garages as their own on-site storage facilities); however, the tandem garage just seemed short. Thank goodness we were moving out at about the same time as this new rule was going to take place, or else we'd be banging our cars against each other trying to park in that thing. Finally, just beware upon move-out what the maintenance people tell you vs. what the community managers tell you. They do charge a lot for paint/carpet cleaning (we were told that they are "sticklers' in this economy by the maintenance man who came to check us out of our apartment), but we were told twice that residents who lived there a year would get some sort of discount on top of the whole bill. That didn't happen, and the community manager acted as if we were crazy for asking about it. In any case, be prepared to pay a lot to move out - about $300 to $350 of your deposit money. They also take the full 21 days (and then some, if you are moving out over the holidays) to get your initial deposit money back. Overall though, I'd recommend this place to anyone. We were sad to have to leave, but it was worth it to avoid the toll fees and long commutes to work.
