I moved from an older apartment into the new, renovated apartments. They look nice at first but they are actually MUCH WORSE. You can tell that they cut as many corners as possible to save tiny bits of money.
Wood cabinets replaced with hollow, faux-wood ones. Drawers removed and turned into large, not-very-useful cabinet rectangles. Microwave removed. Awkward, bulky-but-not-large-in-capacity washer/dryer. Less usable dishwasher. Really cheap and strange LIGHT SWITCHES. Drawers in bathroom removed. Toilet that takes up a lot of space but is no better. One towel rack removed. Hell, even the toilet seat LID went from a regular, ceramic lid to a flimsy piece of plastic where the upper lid moves with the seat when you put it down!
At the same time, the corporate strategy has been to make the office staff do as little as possible (which has its advantages too since they can be very inept). Service calls have to be made over the phone. Rent can't even be handed to them, you have to mail it in. The manager is a b***h with an attitude issue and will not respect or accommodate long time residents. Find another complex where they actually care about you!!
