Sorry in advance that this form will not let you post in paragraph form because this is going to be a lengthy rant. ----------------------If only there were an option for zero stars... DO NOT. CONSIDER RENTING HERE. First of all Don Dilbeck is the most unprofessional piece of s*** ever. Been here 7yrs. Good luck with getting anything fixed. For starters, I was without water for a week and showering at my super nice neighbor's place. Six months prior had no heat for over 2 weeks (in the middle of winter). ----------------------------- Paint is chipping everywhere, including the tile and caulking in my shower. When asked if he could repaint he tried to sell me on one of the newer (laughably) updated units. For more money... Carpets that were at least 3-5 years old when I moved are falling apart and have tears in high traffic areas, some with exposed carpet tack that has actually drawn blood. This is actually legally considered a hazard. ----------------------------My oven that is original of 1969 (as are all other appliances) has never worked except as a re-warming device. Thing can't even cook a frozen pizza... no joke, half will come out burnt and the other half still frozen. The door doesn't even stay shut. ----------------------------- Been asking for a new oven for over a year now, Don said he would try to adjust temperature/fix door. Claimed he came up and checked temp with a thermometer (disturbing since he did not have approval to let himself in without me there) That was last November. Pretty sure that was a lie and he never did. ------------------------------ He recently gave away 1 of 2 parking spaces he allotted me at lease signing 7yrs ago. Citing that I barely use it and the new tenants renting a 1br unit have 2 cars to my 1. I'm sorry, what kind of sense does a 1br getting 2 spaces & a 2br only 1 make?! Since it was assigned to me in original lease...and no changes to our rental agreement were made, it shouldn't matter how the hell choose to use it. Even if I want to park down damn middle of them. Claimed they were never both mine, and he just let me use the 2nd space (umm..for 7 yrs?!). ----------------------------- He threatened to tow me If I didn't "move my car", and that it was "his decision to assign parking as he sees fit". The lengthy text messages on the matter are RIDICULOUS (that thankfully I saved all of) and border on harassment aside from illustrating how much of an illiterate ding dong he is. ----------------------------- In an earlier message I sent asking him to cut the lock off one of my 2 adjacent lockers in front of said spaces (that I couldn't recall combo to) he actually screwed himself (per lawyers I'm speaking to) by asking me which one of "MY" spaces he should cut the lock off, 13 or 14... thereby acknowledging that they are both MINE. Funny that these unilateral decisions of his to reassign parking come right after the dispute over the oven and numerous other things I've been argumentative with him about. ---------------------------Presently, he is trying to evict me. And my newborn. After 7 years of paying rent on time except in 6 instances (where I forgot to schedule an auto-transfer etc) and bounced a check that I made good on with added fees immediately (that's less than once a year). He desperately wants me out so they can rent this apartment for about $800-1000 more (and because of my mouth's inability to not tell him what a slumlord total joke he is). ----------------------------- Unfortunately I did have to make a late payment last month on the 9th. And again this month on the 10th. Still recouping from not working for 6+months during/after, things are TIGHT financially. You would think given my 7 years plus history of only paying late like once a year there might me some forgiveness. ---------------------------- He supposedly posted a 3 day pay or quit on my door on the 6th (the very next day after rent is due on the 5th). I was home the entire evening, having returned at about 4pm. The notice was not on my door at that time. I remained home the entire rest of evening on from 4pm, and did not leave my house and see the notice until following day at around 1:30pm. During all this time that I was home, he could have knocke/rang and handed it to me. ----------------------------- He did not, purposely I suspect...negating almost 24 hrs of my supposed "notice". Which is ridiculous for him to have posted only 1 day after rent was due on the 5th. It's standard for most leasing offices to not post a 3 day pay or quit until you are at least 10-15 days past due on rent, I'm told by the lawyer I've retained... who thinks I have a case for discrimination at the very least. ----------------------------- Also speaking to local media outlets, anyone with a similar experience contact me.
