Resident 2008 - 2009

2/7/2009

Me and my husband have lived here for almost a year now. When we first moved in here there was new carpet and it looked like it might have been new paint too. Although I believe someone used the wrong paint because with all the moisture from the ocean across the street the paint in the hallway peels right off the wall. It was help if they updated the couple of fixtures they have. Mainly in the bathroom. The cheap vanity, cheap/odd faucet, staining tub, horribly old/chipping shower fixtures, cheap towel bar, and the CHEAP toliet with that horrible flush! If the go to Home Depot they can get a brand new one that works decent for about $130, even $99 with the American standard complete solutions! The rent is a little overpriced and the place is TINY(granted it is right across the street from the beach)! The least they can do is fix that bathroom up! Oh don't let me forget to mention that rolled vinyl flooring in the bathroom and kitchen! Horrible! Just plain cheap and stains VERY easy (Just from water and water moisture alone)! Just put some CERMAIC TILE on the floor! That way you don't have to replace it later and it's WAYYY easier to clean/mantain. Since their's barley any SF get a couple of boxes to fix up the apartments as people move out very frequently. After about 6 months mold grew horribly in the bathroom and kitchen walls from all the mositure. I cleaned it up with bleach cleaner in minutes. There's no need to talk to management about mold, because that is to be expected being across the street from the ocean. If you leave the window open after using the shower it helps. Their is little to no hot water in the shower. I have no idea whats up with that. If someone gets in the shower for just 5-9 mins. you can probably expect it to be cold within 2-3 mins. And if someone next door uses it first your pretty much out of luck! It didn't start doing this until they had a flooding about 2 months ago. They often would turn the water off without letting anyone know. Which pissed me off, when I have to get ready to go to work or i'm cooking dinner! I thought that was pretty inconsiderate of them! But that was the old management, hopefully this new management will not do that! The kitchen is what it is...small, but not meant to be huge. It's definitley not for a family, more for 1 or 2 persons. Since we've been here management has changed 3 times. Never had any problems with any of them though, besides turning off the water for hrs at a time without telling anyone! Although I must say the matinance guy is pretty quick and efficent and there is pretty much ALWAYS someone in the office. I don't know how this new management is so I can not speak on them yet. The walls are VERY thin, you can hear the person next door, especially if they are close to the wall or in the bathroom. Doesn't bother me unless they talk REALLY loud next to the wall when I'm trying to go to sleep! The parking is paid $25 for one spot. But they will also tow someone's car for you if they are in your PAID parking spot. They are great about holding packages for you when you are not home!Which is really NICE!!! I have a baby on the way so there is NO WAY we could stay here. It is extremely too small. Also what will I do when I the baby has an accident and out of the blue the water is off? OR the tub fixture gets stuck and I can't give my baby a little bath or wash his mouth out from putting something gross in it! I REALLY hate that they didn't enforce enough to the tenants to PICK up their dogs poop!!! They did send out notices, but never really followed through. Just gross! Although I can't soley blame them for the tenants actions, but eww! There's not really any loud tenants besides the one who lives next to us who sometimes will play their music loud (call the office and they handle that nicely). OR they bring their immature young friends over and they talk/play around so loud I can't go to sleep! (call the office and they handle it). We are moving out to move in a bigger place. It's just not enough space for us.I would suggest this place for 1 person who loves to surf!Or 2 people looking for something temp. with no children. The storage space is VERY limited! Only 2 closets. It's not the greatest and could def. be better than what it is. Love the view and the beach being LITERALLY RIGHT across the street! Which i'm sure has something to do with the rent and the kinda crappy apt. Hope this helps someone out! I know I was very detailed, but I always wonder about what these places are really like when I'm moving.
