Resident 2009 - 2014

6/9/2014

Foreword, we lived in 2324 and OMG I would never live in my area of the complex ever again. I have lived here twice now in 2 different units and I have to say the community is okay, but you have to be picky about the unit you choose and The Gateway Apartments around the corner are much nicer/quieter. Personal opinion, for the best experience living here you need to be on the top floor, with 1 adjacent wall if possible, where your front door does not face the parking garage, and where the unit's balcony faces inside the complex and is not open to the perimeter of the complex. Also, if you are non-smoking you have to accept never being able to open your windows because the units are all smoking allowed and there is bound to be someone who puffs every 10 minutes within sniffing distance. If you have neighbors above you, it will be loud. If your balcony faces the freeways, or opens to the outside of the complex, you will hear traffic and ambulances 24/7 that are insanely loud (UCI Emergency Room + local fire station are both walking distance). If your front door opens to the parking garage you will hear nonstop car alarms 24/7 and every loud motorcycle / asian muffler / trash pickup trucks that drives through it. Parking, is non-existent. They make paying residents use guest parking so that isn't an option either. You are lucky just to get 1 space on the correct floor in the parking garage and space assignments make no sense in terms of where your unit is located. Word the wise always ask the leasing agents where your space will be and walk the journey from your car to your unit. There just is not enough parking here because they put in the parking garages towards the back of the complex that nobody rents so they sit empty instead of being available for parking. Also, for those concerned with safety there are more security guards now (2014) than there used to be (2012) but they are useless and there really is no security on the premises. Anyone can reach over the doors and open the gates, cars just follow other cars into the complex and there are no cameras in the parking garage so I have heard numerous stories of people's cars getting broken into and the property manager doesn't really care. Side note, they were previously owned by BRE properties but were recently purchased by Essex who his notorious for increasing rents and being more difficult to deal with that either BRE used to be or the Irvine Company for those of you that have lived at their properties.
