I am so grateful to have found somewhere like Villa La Paz. I came in for a tour and talked to the office staff, they were courteous and thorough at their job. They really showed me around the property and treated me with respect. I didn't feel like I was at a used car lot like some other places make you feel.
I found a unit I really liked, and they take dogs! I jumped on it, only to get home and read the bad reviews below. I came back the next morning, only to probably shock the poor guy in the office when I couldn't hold it together about how nervous all the reviews made me and started crying at his desk. My number one priority is safety.
This is where the rubber meets the road. Rather than get defensive or try to deny the reviewers they were honest, open, and forthcoming with me. This did so much to calm my heart and despite the rogue reviewer on here I moved in, trusting my own eyes...not the eyes of some anonymous and very upset former tenant. The office reassured my personal safety, and gave me the number for the courtesy patrol which they assured me would show up if ever there were a problem. (a number I haven't had to use yet!)
Day 1: I'm a Single girl with a Uhaul...neighbors noticed and helped me get my really heavy stuff into my apartment! They were kind, welcoming and friendly.
Week 1: I met lots of my neighbors, all of them were great! Kids are loud...at 3:30 in the afternoon when they get out of school! But they are kids! One them was even responsible enough to watch my dog over the weekend while I was gone, he did a great job and earned my trust! Sometimes it's nice to have them around.
1 Month in: This is the safest neighborhood I have lived in since I left home in 2004! I really like my neighbors! My apartment is still great. The amenities are so clean and the area is beautiful. The sunsets off my balcony are incredible every night and there is a lake less than a block away to walk around. My rent move-in deal was good and monthly rent is the most reasonable in the area ...trust me I searched!
All in All I am incredibly pleased with my decision to not allow the previous reviewers on here sway the experience I had with my own eyes. I almost let them stop me from moving into a place I now call HOME. I am so grateful I trusted what I saw and used my logic to really consider this site. If this previous reviewer is so upset...why not move out and move on. He/She is upset, yet they stay here? or they moved...but then they don't really know what they are talking about since they don't live here anymore...do they? Think it through my fellow apartment dwellers and I think you will come to the same conclusion I did!
(In response to the previous negative reviewers who felt the need to comment on the race of tenants in this housing complex, shame on you. America is a land of free speech, however your speech is NOT protected under the first amendment and you should be aware that, were someone to see your comments and discover your identity, it would be within their rights to press charges against you for hate speech and libel. SO really it looks like the only crime to be reported around here, is the one you are committing by participating in openly racist hate speech. Note this very carefully should you ever choose to post or respond here again.)
