Resident 2012

3/28/2012

I am a current resident, and have been here for almost 3 years now. The complex is full of cigarette smoke, and partying -- year olds that come home every night at 2-3am and party on their balconies until 4-5 in the morning. Stay specifically away from buildings 55 and 57. There have been meth labs broken up in the garages, people are running recycling and waste processing mills in the garages of building 57, and there is one tenant sleeping 3-4 people in a garage in building 57. There are commonly 5-7 folks living in each of the one bedroom apartments, and even more in the two bedrooms. Apartments are basically being used as hostels for workers and illegal immigrants who come home to sleep, shower and go to another job. Very unfair to the rental market, and the apartment quality for one bedrooms are not more than 850-900 a month max. Yet, VLP management will "tease" you for a year offering $1050 rent first year, and instantly raise you up 80-120 dollars on your second lease until they bring you up to 1400 for a one bedroom. Don't fall for it. High crime area, Sheriff's are outside literally daily making arrests or shaking people down. I am leaving soon due to my children's safety, and health concerns from cigarette smoke continually being in our apartment. Oh, and be careful, once your in, your in - 2000 dollar lease break fee, which has to be paid BEFORE you can even give your notice. They will charge you for 35 dollars for a pet/dog or cat, and 45-50 for a cramped garage with no storage capacity or shelving of any sort. Don't do it!
