Resident 2007

7/26/2007

These are very nice Townhomes. Granted, I've only lived here less than a year, still I like it so far. The units have 3 floors. The first level is the garage. It has a very large storage area which my husband and I are using as a home office. It also has a washer and dryer and since the complex is fairly new (4 years old, I believe) all the appliances work fine. The garage is supposed to fit two cars (tandem). Unless you have two compact cars, I don't really think you can fit two cars easily especially if one of them is a large SUV or a Minivan. Not a problem really, because one of the cars can be parked inside and the other within the complex. If not, there is always street parking right outside and it has no "2-hour" residential permit street parking requirements so you or your guests can park there all day, no problem. The second story is the living/dining area. It's actually spacious and the ceilings are very high (10 ft. at least) which gives it an even more open feel. The kitchen is quite nice and clean. The cabinetry is actual oak wood, not the particle board and veneer that I've seen at other places around the area when we were searching for a place. There is a convenient guest bathroom right off the kitchen. The balcony is a nice size (you can put a table and some chairs out there and have breakfast). The upstairs (3rd level) has the two bedrooms with their own bathrooms and walk-in closets and a linen closet at the top of the stairs. One of the bedrooms has a larger walk-in closet. The upstairs bathrooms are on the small side but it's not a big deal since one doesn't spend a lot of time in there anyway. I like the overall setup, the separate levels allow people to be able to watch TV and do stuff in the kitchen downstairs late at night (or early in the morning) without disturbing those who are trying to sleep upstairs. I enjoy being able to turn on the AC when it gets too warm. I've only had to do it a couple of times since it seems like the place stays pretty cool inside usually (and the area is often windy). So far everything is pretty positive, but there are a couple of problems. As some other people have pointed out, the walls are VERY thin. My husband and I can hear our neighbor yawn in the mornings or cough or speak. In the living room area we can hear other neighbors' TV's. It doesn't bother us too much because we happen to have relatively quiet neighbors and our previous place was in a very very busy area further south and the amount of noise here is really not that much, the area is residential and there is no through traffic. Also, access to public transportation is not very convenient. Overall, I think for the price per month and the amount of space you get, it's a pretty good deal.
