Bay Pointe Apartments- Don't move there

It has been a displeasure renting an apartment from Bay Pointe Apartments. Issues ranging from cleanliness to management's response time to repairs and everything in between is lacking. I would not and do not condone living there. Save your hard earned money and stay away from this nightmare. The facilities are perpetually stuck in 70's decor. Hallways, trash chutes, and shared living quarters are unkempt. I once found a used condom in the South end spa! Elevators do not work or feel unsafe with there creaking doors and rough riding. Managements response time to household repairs is nearly non existent. Parking is an absolute nightmare for any visitors as there is no visitor parking facilities. Also, parking areas are ill-illuminated if at all and parking slots have not been painted in years. One time I got home late on a Sunday and parked slightly askew in a slot. The next morning I received a parking citation for $90.00! No notice, no warning...no thank you Bay Pointe. Lastly, noise is a huge issue at Bay Pointe. Security fails on a weekend basis to control the issue.

    We've enjoyed out time here

My husband and I have been living here for a little over a year. We've had the usual complaints that go with apartment living; the occasional loud neighbor, folks in the jacuzzi too late, inconvenient tree trimming and parking restrictions. However, for the most part we have been very happy here. Our maintenance requests have been taken care of in a timely manner and completely. I have heard the complaints from other residents, but we have not had any of those problems (knock on wood). Maybe it is just luck of who you get for neighbors, and maybe some buildings have more bugs than others. We, honestly, have never seen a cockroach in our apartment (knock on wood, again). I have, however, seen them in the courtyards. The rooms (living & bed) are big by my standards. The bathroom in our 1-bedroom is huge, with a vanity. The pool is a great asset, fun and relaxing. The jacuzzis are relaxing. The location is perfect for us as we like to walk along the bay. It is beautiful. Also, the easy access to the freeway, Garnet restaurants, and shops… See More>

      Death is Better

I've lived here for nearly five years. The location and size of the structure is very appealing and the fact that it is two blocks from the bay is awesome. I was happy here for a good period of time because it was youthful and typifies what San Diego seems to be. So I was glad to sign another lease and stay here for a good period longer despite the fact that the apartments were falling apart and I've discovered termite larvae living in our walls. The apartment management promptly began to renovate the exterior walls and halls of the buildings. Giving us little warning about when and where they were going to be painting or blocking off hallways. The water temperatures began to fluctuate strangely; it would get hot and cold erratically causing showers to be terrifying. Then, they began to shut off the water entirely to make repairs. They gave us warning for the first three times they were going to inconvenience us, then they just started to shut it off on a whim. Not only that, they would close off parking lots for no apparent reason because what they intended to do never really gets done. Their… See More>

        Ok apartment, couple of problems

There have been a couple of problems since we moved in, but nothing big. When the garbage disposal broke or the sink was clogged, they always fixed it that same day. We did have a cockroach problem at first, but we got traps and that cleared it up. The one big problem we had was our car got stolen out of the parking lot. Granted, it was a Honda so probably very easy to steal, and I don't blame the apartment complex. There's always parking where I need it. The employees have always been very friendly to us and it's nice to be so close to the bay. I even got a hundred dollars off of my rent for winning the pumpkin carving contest! All in all, the customer service has been excellent compared to other apartments I've stayed at, although it seems that other people have had problems with them, I've never had any issues. The interior decorating is somewhat dorm-ish, and I don't know who picked the poo brown color for the doors, but I'm not terribly concerned about appearance though I imagine that would turn some people off. … See More>

          Not the best

Ive been there for about 5 months now and Im just waiting for my least to be up and Im out...Since we've moved in we have had 3 floods from bad pipes [which damaged our personal belongings], have been visited by the roaches, and the worse part is the insane amount of solicitors knocking on your door att all hours of the night. The "security" is pretty much invisible and it hard to feel safe in your own home. I strongly advise you to look elsewhere

Please visit www.baypointecommunity.blogspot.com and help put the heat on the owner of Bay Pointe Apartments, Mr. ------ ----- ------. He has received $35,310 dollars (plus $321.00 in "late fees" that are almost certainly recoverable) from this tenacious tenant and then had the gall to try to evict me when I refused to allow him to fraudulently extract any more money from my bank account to the detriment of my children and family. Mr. ------ ----- ------ is a multi-millionaire socialite who owns and operates over 40 properties in the San Diego area. He is cheap and has continuously underperformed in his contractual obligations to his tenants. He may be liable for fraud by advertising "luxury" apartments and including "resort style" and "resort like" living/atmosphere in his marketing materials. Learned my lesson

The only good things about Bay pointe are the location and the pool. In our 9 months at Bay pointe, we experienced cockroaches from a nearby infested apartment several times, and each time the management did a quick fix but the bugs came right back again. The hot water was shut off at least once a week during the winter for days at a time, and during the summer the ENTIRE water was shut off, always caused by a "busted pipe" according to management. How many times can a pipe burst, really? The rental office is staffed by a few horribly incompetent snobby ladies that are only good at signing new leases. Once I received a late rent notice and then called the office to discuss it (I had owed and paid only a prorated portion of the rent for that month) and no one in the office could help me because "no one knew how to read the general ledger" but in the meantime while they figured it out I was required to pay the late fees. Now how, I ask, if no one knows how to read the ledger, did they even… See More>

A really nice complex and living space

I have lived here for 9months and just renewed the lease. Our building is kept very tidy and parking is great. The only parking issue is if you come home late (after 8) then we park on the side lot but its really only adding maybe 2 min to your walk. The courtyard is beautiful and the pool and hot tubs are kept very clean. The tennis courts are in great shape and i love walking past them watching other play. I play my self as well. My only complaints are that the appliances are slightly dated. The dishwasher works well, the stove is fine, the oven is a little tricky, we just placed a thermometer inside to get an accurate temperature read. The staff is very friendly and the pet policy is wonderful. They have also hired a new security team which is very friendly and equipped with guns and regular cop equipment(which we feel is a little excessive but it is comforting) I love at night watching all the cats play in the courtyard. The apt are very spacious and the fan unit is nice. The Balcony's are cement so you can have a grill which is… See More>

                    not worth the trouble

I lived there for two years and I can honestly say that this place is not worth it! Parking is a nightmare, Residents get $75 fines for parking in office spaces (more than the office needs) when there are no open spots remotely close to their unit. Many residents are rude and inconsiderate and the security is terrible! The security officers never seem to be around when residents are shooting fireworks off their balcony (DOWN into the courtyard!!!) but are pounding on your door when you are watching a movie and have the patio door open. Management also did nothing about the firework situation. Residents had to sign new terms for security doors, which after a year were still not installed. Dumpsters were taken away which led to many residents having to walk relatively far to dump their trash. The lack of trash bins led to an unsightly pile up of trash at the few remaining dumpsters. There are CONSTANT plumbing problems that result in water being shut off at random times, including one that backed up my sink and almost flooded my kitchen. Spend a little more, rent somewhere… See More>

                      Double standards and filth!

So its OK for the illegal allien maintenance man to to live in a 2 bd apartment with 10 other people, many of them noisy kids. But if your a tenant, management is up your arse with a microscope, and will kick you out for anything. And good luck getting your deposit back. they charge you for every nail hole in the wall. Massive cockroach and termite infestation and they refuse to do anything about it. This place needs to be bulldozed and napalmed!

His little bean kids (4 of them) are out in the Cort yard every day being loud and riding skate boards. It takes weeks to get any maintenance job done. The management is the worst Ive ever experienced. they are all ugly, rude and totally unprofessional and they will rent to any low life the walks into the rental office. they abuse their power like they own the place. somebody needs to remind them that they are 9$ pr hr losers that never got out of college and the only prerequisite for their current job was a heartbeat. writing about the hellhole that is bay pointe isn't usually my thing. that's my husband's job. but today, as i was walking my dog down ingraham i was struck by how nice the front of the leasing office and complex look. they have clearly spent a pretty penny on curb appeal. that, coupled with the banners proclaiming "Bay Pointe LUXURY Apartments", must fool a lot of people. of course, as every person who is not a bay pointe employee has written, they will soon learn the truth. it's dangerous, it's disgusting, it's dirty, it's embarassing. those improvements are only for show. the reality is that the hallway carpets are stained, mostly from the constant water problems, the lights in the stairways are constantly out which makes it even more dangerous when navigating the broken steps on the stairwell, the trash rooms are roach infested and the elevators are always out of service. even when they attempt to beautify things, they fail miserably...no doubt due to picking up all their workers from the corner next to home depot. for example, right now they are in the middle of their ten (??)… See More>

                            You Guys Have no idea....

Bay Pointe is by far the worst place to live. I've had my car towed, my car broken into, my laundry stolen, run in with the tweekers & trolls, strange people on my balcony and pearing into my 1st floor studio apartment. Not safe for a yound girl. Also the gates have never been locked making Bay Pointe the public recreational pool for the entire Pacific Beach and their friends. Not to mention all the people who use the tennis courts that are not tenants. The girls in the front office do not work for the tenants. Because the Property Management and Owner of the building care only about income, they do not observe who they rent to or how many people are going live in the units. Be careful here. You might end up next door to 6 brazilians living in a one bedroom. Talk about loud. Just a tip the one towing your car is the onsight security gaurd. They are not suppose to do that, but yet he works side by side with the towing company capatalizing off of paying tenants. Don't expect much from the girls as they have turned cold due to angry tenants.

I lived here for 2 years.. BY FAR the worst most obnoxious staff that doesn't address any concerns of the tenants. Crystal Meth addicts live in the laundry rooms, storage sheds, and electrical rooms. Had my laundry stolen on more than one occasion.. Good place if you want to party, but bad place if you want good customer service... Courtesy patrol is a joke.. He used to knock on my door when I had parties, I just wouldn't answer and nothing would ever happen. Also, if you speak only english and not portuguese may have a hard time navigating through the run down complex.. OH and add me to the list of getting towed!! I had a freakin sticker too.. I hope the staff and this complexs burns in hell. Want to live in PB, do what I did and move accross the street to Avalon.. Its only about 100 more a month.

I moved here because of the location. For the first 2 months things were alright, but that has changed for the worse. The apartment itself isn't bad and any needed repairs are done promply. The noise is another thing. I have complained to the management about a dog, the noise, and the pot smell. Their response was to inform the resident and nothing more. I've been informed that I need to continue to call courtesy patrol. In other words, if you want a place where all tenants are held to the lease, don't move here. This place allows some to play music loudly at any timeof day or night, have a dog even when the lease states they are not permitted on the property, and smoke pot.

I'm liking it, even with what can be considered the bad...

I'm a native San Diegan, and I can say that PB in general is definitely not the most cleaniest, nicest place in San Diego to live-but it's fun! Generally anywhere you go in this beach area is going to be kind of dirty compared to say, La Jolla or Del Mar, you'll see bums, older communities, and of course college-aged partiers. When you move to PB you have to expect that that's what you get, otherwise you should just buy a house where you don't have to deal with apartment living or PB. With that being said, Bay Pointe is actually a step up from the majority of PB. The building I live in, is pretty damn clean, but it's an older community with older fixtures and appliances. I don't really mind, especially compared to other places in PB. If I ever have any problems with it, they fix it in a timely manner. GREAT PLACE!

I think these websites are for complaints only, its safe to say if someone gets evicted or doesnt like one of the managers they are going to come on here and say anything! i absolutely love it here, i have NEVER seen a bum walking around anywhere and im rite next to the street area, i have NEVER seen a cocaroch, i have NEVER had a problem with the staff...dont forget people arent always going to be corny and sweet. Take the advice from me, i love this place and im a 19 yr old female, i would have complaints if there were any!

                                                more drugs!

So here is one for the books. My wife was walking down the hallway in building 6 a couple of days ago and saw maitenance and some of the leasing goofs in the hot water heater room. Next to that room is a supposed sealed storeroom where bums used to live. You can still gain access to that room from the boiler room but not from the hallway. Well she noticed a perfumy/noxious odor. She walked by again and turns out that it wasn't a maitenence person at all but a dectective from SDPD. Apparently the storeroom that we thought was sealed was being used as a staging point for drugs, what she smelled was bad pot. There was a stove, refrigerator, vcr/dvd player and other small comforts of home. How did these folks get in to stage their stash you ask? Simple, they did it through the roof! They had a hatch that lead from the roof of building 6 into the storeroom. So impressed of the setup the detective called another detective over to see it for themselves. So whenever I heard someone walking on our… See More>

A lot of new people to the area are tricked into moving here. When you take the tour during the day they show you a brand new apartment, the pool looks nice, and the location is good. Then you move in, the apartment we got was really gross. Disgusting rugs, stained bathrooms, terrible odor. The hallways are always a mess, the basketball courts are only at 25%, the pool and hot tub are not cleaned nearly enough, and there are bums and theives that use this place as a hangout.
