Resident 2010 - 2011

4/28/2011

We had a really great discount on the rent when we moved in last June, and for the first few months, we absolutely loved living here. Kathy was the property manager then. She was extremely accommodating and understanding. When we moved in and had a complaint about the patio not being clean enough, she quickly responded and had the maintenance tend to it right away. When we would walk around the property at night with our dog, and she would be walking with her dog, too, she would stop and chat with us for a while. Like I said, very friendly. The rest of the staff were just as warm. We thought we had found the perfect place to live. The only real complaint we had was the parking spaces being a little too tight, but there is definitely plenty of parking. There is even an overflow lot. Our neighbors were polite and easy to get along with. As with apartment living, of course you're going to hear doors being shut, or if you live downstairs, footsteps from the unit above. But of course, that's expected with apartment living. Some time after Christmas, it seemed the property got rid of practically all of its staff without notifying the tenants, and before we knew it, we were getting notices about all kinds of things from the new property manager, Medell Holcombe. She literally had complaints about every little thing (for example, a beach towel hanging over our balcony that we were letting dry), and the worst part was, she didn't even know our names! She sent notices addressed to our apartment but titled "Dear Vicky" or some other name. There is no one named Vicky that lives in our apartment. It was as if she just copied/pasted the notice or didn't bother to know the tenants living in the property. Sometimes it seemed as if all these notices we received were only given to us and no other tenant even though others were in violation as well of their "policy" because our apartment so happens to be in full view of the leasing office. And unlike Kathy, if you see Medell walking around the property, she will ignore you as though you have leprosy. It seems Medell also doesn't know how to work the maintenance request on their computers because every time we put up a request and she would answer the phone, the maintenance never got it. Days would pass without a single maintenance member coming in to fix the problem, and when we would finally call the office to ask why, they reported that nothing was in their computers about the problem. Bottom line is, we have had enough of living in the Villas because of Medell Holcombe. She is rude, inconsiderate, doesn't solve problems and likes to blame the tenant instead, makes excuses, and is unwelcoming in every way. If Kathy were still the property manager, we would definitely recommend living here, but unless you want to be ignored and treated like a number, by all means, enjoy Medell Holcombe.
