I have to agree with much of what others have written. The buildings can be noisy (but what other city apartments aren't)? I live facing the courtyard, so that definitely cuts down on the noise - and I have a nice view of Coit Tower.

Parking is expensive ($180/month) and the garage door does break sometimes - but I've alwasy been able to get in or out of the garage even though one of the doors is broekn (sometimes the door is left open however, which is definitely not safe). Since parking in this neighborhood is so tough and cars get regulary broken into when parked on the street, getting a garage space if you have a car is a must.

Several months ago there were a few apartments broken into and some cars have been broken into also, so it's not the safest place (but it might just be a city problem, not the building's fault).

The office staff is very unfriendly and the policy of a 6 or 12 month lease or nothing is definitely a pain too (no upside for you but helps them from having too much turnover no doubt). The elevators are very, very old and are often broken (and they never post out of order signs or give an estimate on when things will get fixed). Hallway carpets are old and dirty. Stairwells are dark and dirty. Appliances are mediocre (refrigerator and stove in kitchen are scaled down in size; fridge has small freezer compartment inside of the fridge, not a separate freezer compartment). Popcorn ceilings and shabby drapes (with a falling apart pulley system to open/close the drapes) complete the less than appealing look of the apartments.

Location is good - across from a Safeway, Walgreens, Radio Shack. Just a few blocks from Fisherman's Wharf. Trader Joe's is two blocks away. Close to the Embarcadero.

Outside of good location, however, there isn't much to say about this place.
