I arranged to rent Telegraph Hill apartments remotely for a summer tech internship in SF. I decided on quirky, cozy, North Beach with the close proximity to the lively italian restaurants, the new trendy spots, a slew of lively bars on Grant St., the amazing on a sunny Sunday Union Square, and the easy 15-20 minute commute/walk to the Financial District. Your visitors to SF (you'll have some if you live here) will be impressed! It's one of the only complexes in this specific area, there's a few others on the other hills. The apartments themselves are a bit later than midcentury modern but surprisingly well kept up. The roof deck view sweeping from Transamerica to the Golden Gate (on a more clear day) is unbelievable. The grounds are kept up impeccable by the maintenance dude; I saw him out every single week day, sweeping and trimming. The management switched at the end of the summer but both younger managers were friendly and helpful, albeit not usually there at the start of the work day (but that's SF for you). I did end up receiving most of my deposit back save for the carpet cleaning fee and it was handled very quickly. I love that they use rent.com which makes payments and reminders quick without dealing with annoying checks. The kitchen only had a small refrigerator and was fairly out of date, along with the bathroom fixtures, etc. but the furnishings were fairly new since I rented furnished but not accessorized." It was $400 more per month for accessorized which was too much since it's about $400 worth of stuff that can be purchased at Target. The residents are mostly subdued and quiet save for North Beach Festival weekend but the walls are super thin and I could hear even a light cough; if only NorCal apartments could use sound insulation. I utilized the cleaning service once but it was overpriced and not too thorough. The Apartmentratings research is ridiculous as most are pretty negative, even Yelp too but the place was pretty great and I might choose to live here again if I was working in the city.
