Resident 2001 - 2002

9/16/2002

The only problem is noise, otherwise good.

I lived here from July 2001 to September 2002.

The bad thing first:

If you live on the bottom floor, expect a LOT of noise. I could hear every conversation, every step, upstairs. If the t.v. or stereo is on, you´d better share the same taste because you will hear it like it´s in your own apartment. If you lived on the top floor, I´m sure there´d be no problem.

Bad for some:

No pool or gym. This wasn´t an issue for me, so I didn´t care.

The Guadalupe Creek runs right behind the complex. I personally liked this. It didn´t add to pests or anything.

<br semi-bad:

The two complexes next door are of a lesser quality than this one, but I never had any problems with the people there.

Although the manager is very friendly, helpful and responsive, he did not take care of the noise problem in a timely manner. My first neighbors were the loudest. The manager responded each time I asked him to tell them to keep it down, but this only made them angry. Eventually, things got out of control and the manager asked them to leave, but he gave them 60 DAYS NOTICE! I had already been dealing with this issue for months. The second neighbors were nowhere near as loud as the first, but after they moved in, I realized that it is more the fault of the way the apartments were built (no noise-proofing from ceiling to floor, althought side to side was very noise-proof). Because of the noise, I had to recently move. I had to break my lease, but I expect that the manager will work well with me on this. I do not plan to rip him off for the remaining rent and I´m sure once we´ve discussed this, he will be fine to work with in regards to my leaving. (I don´t know yet as I just moved 6 days ago). **UPDATE: I received my whole security & pet deposit back, so it all ended well.

The good:

This is a small complex (26 units), which I liked a lot. Everyone had one covered parking spot. There are stackable washer/dryers in the 1/2 bedroom apts. and a laundry room for the studios. The refridgerator was huge. It has a lot of trees, so that means lots of shade. The apt. held the temperature well. It would stay pretty cool in the summer, even without using the A/C. The heat also stayed in well in the colder months. I think the rent was reasonable for the nice area, size of the apt. and today´s rental market. The manager was open to lowering the rent when I resigned my lease and the market had dropped.

Oh, and they allowed my cats (with a deposit). It was $200 each cat.
