I have lived in the apartment complex for 7 years. When I moved in it was the best place and it was inexpensive. It was run by a wonderful women who made sure your received personal attention. Then Sobrato http://www.sobrato.com bought the complex and that is when everything went down hill. They fired the women who was the manager and brought in a "management company", you now have to pay for water, garbage and sewer on a seperate bill. They have tried to raise the rent more than 8% a year more than once even though it is in a rent controlled area, they reduced the size of the dumpsters so now the garbage falls all over the ground before it is time for the garbage company to come and pick it up, the laundry facilities are FILTHY and they keep raising the rents higher when people move out but the service has gone down. If you try to call the office for help on anything, they don´t answer the phone and if you are a tenant, it takes them up to 4 days to return your call. Winter of 2000 my heater went out and I called the office and paged maintance all night and no one responded. It was soooo cold. The maintance manager said that he had lost his pager but he never told anyone it was missing and he hadn´t tried to replace it. Why don´t I move you may ask, well, I am a single parent that lives from paycheck to paycheck and moving costs money that I do not have.
