Resident 1996 - 2002

5/27/2002

I lived in the complex for just under six years. Each year my rent went up by a minimum of $40 a month. This past year, my rent went up another $85 a month, the highest increase. Unfortunately, despite the increases, there have been no improvements. In fact, the building has gone down hill. They cut back the hours of the "security." They used to be 24 hours and now they stop around midnight or 1 a.m. The security people are nice, but they don´t do much. They write up a report if there is a disturbance, but the management just puts it in a file and does not follow up anyway. In fact, if you have a disturbing neighbor or complain about anything at all, they tell YOU to move. I had a neighbor who tortured me with her loud constant bad beginner piano practice tunes for three years, and bad opera singing. They kept promising me that they were going to get her out of there, but they kept renewing her lease. In fact, they said to me,"If you don´t like it, YOU should move." So I did!

The buildings are old and you can hear every noise anyway. I used to hear televisons, doors slamming, people in the hallways. People were constantly blocking my car, by parking in the carport right in front of the sign that told them that if they parked there, they would be towed. No one ever got towed and few even got tickets, since the property management never did anything about it. I even gave them license plate numbers of the people who blocked my car and they still did nothing.

They only want their money and they don´t care if you are a happy, content tenant. As it turned out my piano playing neighbor, who was an airhead anyway, caused an electricial fire in her apartment. Fortunately the firemen came right away otherwise my apartment which was adjacent to hers would have been destroyed as well. However, my apartment was smokey for a few days and management did not offer to put me in a motel. I told them that it was difficult to breathe, and they said it "was not that bad." They told me her piano burnt in the fire, but it didn´t. In fact, they had to move her to another unit and she had furniture guys move her piano into that new unit and now she´s torturing someone else. By the way, their own lease says that there should be "no disturbing musical instruments" in the apartment, but they allow it anyway.

One of my neighbors had a dog in his apartment even though the lease says "no pets." So, don´t bother with this place, unless you are a rule breaker, because they won´t do anything to you anyway, just as long as you pay your rent.
