I lived at Rancho Corrales for 22 years. The apartments are adequate and the neighborhood is nice. However, when Fairfield took over the place about 5-6 years ago, the rent increases were unreasonable, especially when I would later see their website offer lower rates to new residents. There was no preference given to long-term residents. When I asked why I did not get offered the lower rate, I was given a vague answer that the rate was based on a formula of what the rents were in the area and the location of my apartment in the complex. I would have stayed there, but Rancho Corrales priced me out. The local management is only doing what they have been instructed by the main office, so you can not blame them. It is some beancounter that is trying to get as much money as they can for the company. Be careful if you plan to stay there longer than a year because the rent increases will be more than your salary increases.
