Lived here for 9 months and only moved because we found a house with more space. The location cannot be beat. The complex was built in 2001 so the appliances are a little dated (I wouldn't consider this a luxury apartment compared to the others in the area) but the counters, bathrooms and carpet are in great condition. The rent is at least 25% less than the surrounding complexes for the same space. We were on the first floor and loved having the separate street entrance as well as the interior door to the pool, office, etc. When the windows are closed you will tune out the train horn fairly quickly. Our apartment had AC in the living room and the master bedroom so we didn't have to open the windows. The guest room didn't have AC and we left that window open most of the time any way since the litter box was in there. The train noise wasn't a problem. The only time it's bad is if you have the front door open while the train is going by. That seemed to happen to us a lot and became a running joke. We're convinced the engineer saw us and blew the horn just to be a jerk! Despite the train, it's mostly quiet. We could hear people talking in the hall but it didn't happen often and only when they were being loud. My upstairs neighbor turned the music up loud frequently (I think she was working out), but I could really only hear it in one room and it was never early or after 10pm. The leasing office staff is super nice and responsive. It seems they only have one person on most of the time so if they have to show an apartment, you'll have to wait for them to get back if you need to pick up a package. I do a great deal of shopping online and sometimes the packages would be left at the office rather than my door or the mailbox, depending on who was delivering it. Anyone with a normal shopping habit shouldn't have a problem getting their packages on time. Email communication works the best if you have a question or need something. I never used the pool or the grills, but the hot tub was nice. Clean, perfect temperature. The grounds are well maintained. Oh! The storage. Each apartment comes with a storage unit, the size of which is based on the apartment size I believe (bigger for a 2/2 than a 1/1). That was a life saver because had bikes and some Rubbermaid containers full of holiday stuff. The maintenance staff is awesome. I filed a few tickets for a dying garbage disposal and a leak in the bathroom ceiling and both were fixed within a day (maybe a couple of days while they waited for the new disposal to arrive). We painted most of the apartment and decided not to paint it back to white ourselves but pay the fee. There were some standard cleaning fees as well, but it was about what we expected. Completely fair and reasonable. Pros: Cheaper than the newer places on the other side of Murphy. Walking distance to Target, Macy's, the train and Murphy Street. Great staff. Clean. Storage and covered parking. Cons: The train noise (better if you aren't on Sunnyvale). Small. Appliances are white and ~15 years old.
