Resident 2018 - 2020

8/31/2020

I don't even know where to start with this property. I would give them 0 stars but since the maintenance crew is actually helpful and take care of things as needed they get 1 redeemable star. A few things anyone looking to lease a unit here should know: 1. Utilities are billed separately to each unit and run you well over $200 a month. The garbage on some months was $80 alone. So keep this in mind when looking at rent prices- add another $250 average for utilities a month. Take a look at the trash room that you pay $80/month for- never picked up and so full of garbage you sometimes cannot add anymore trash of how overfilled it was. 2. A year ago there was a property manager named Nancy who was amazing. She always replied to emails, she knew how to get everything done and she would always resolve any issues tenants had in a timely manner. NOW is night and day difference. The new management is so poor I would not even trust them to manage a single condominium. Just trying to get an email reply to some basic things is like pulling teeth. They dont even know where they are working or what the job duties entail. Bethany the main property manager is completely and utterly useless. Never answers phone calls, never replies to emails and is always full of excuses. Her best excuse is that she is new- even after a full year she still uses this excuse since she and her team have no clue what they are doing. We just moved out and gave our 30 day notice and were told someone would be sending a move out form to sign (this never showed up), on the day of our move out WE had to call them to ask where they wanted us to leave keys etc (this was astonishing to me, you would expect your landlord or management to reach out to you for instructions the day of your move out). They told us to drop the keys in the mailbox- the mailbox does not fit keys, its meant to envelopes. These are just some of the ludicrous and baffling things you have to deal with when it comes to these property managers. 3. The units are built very poorly with paper thin walls. Usually you would see units being built on a stack (kitchens above kitchens etc). In our unit the kitchen from our neighbors was above our bedroom. Every time they ran their washer/dryer we would hear it. This makes living here very unpleasant. If it wasn't for the view, we would have left a long time ago. 4. Parking- If you have more than one car here you will find it very difficult to park both cars. The management only gives you one space per unit, and they claim nobody has two spaces and that there are plenty of guest spaces available (they dont have a clue about the parking). The issue is tenants who have no regard for neighbors will leave their cars in guest spaces for months at a time never moving them or switching their cars out. Guess what management does? NOTHING, even though they know tenants are annoyed and angered by this situation enough to bring it to their attention, this was an ongoing problem the entire time we lived here and saw multiple cars with angry notes from tenants and the only thing management was doing is shrugging their shoulders and sending emails to tenants saying dont leave notes on cars come talk to us (how does this work when they are non existent, clueless and are doing nothing to help the situation themselves?) *I would advise against leasing a unit here unless you are never home and do not plan to ever have any interaction with the management team. NEVER living in an Essex building ever again!
