Sunset Ridge Apartments

I stayed with some friends while searching for an apartment farther west, and I'm hoping my friends leave there soon as well. I lived with them for about 6 months.

The apartment's carpet was pretty dirty when they moved in, and the light switches/electrical outlets were all put in upside-down so no plugs would fit, requiring me to find this out and we had to fix it ourselves. The painting was done pretty horribly inside, and the outlets had been painted over. The bathtub creaked like something awful every time I went to take a shower, so much so that I thought it was going to fall through the roof into the apartment below.

As for the grounds, well.. When I first was moving in, I thought: "What were my friends thinking?!?" I mean, guys tend not to care about things being pretty, but this was ridiculous-- My first thought was that this place was a ------. The "playground," if you can even call it that, was pretty much a lot of dirty sand with some sink fixtures that I don't know even now why they were there, but they were falling apart. The pool, I'd never go in there from the dirty look of it. Children run about without supervision, and though they seemed never up to trouble, I wondered what their parents were doing.

Drug deals regularly went on in the apartments below and beside us, and I woke one morning to find the police raiding the apartment next to ours.

Cats are ALWAYS crying late into the night at periodic stations around the complex, making it hard for any light/regular sleeper to rest. Dogs kept inside the apartments growl and lunge at the doors as you walk past, and the cats that cry at night will try to run into your apartment at every possible chance. The crazy part about the cats is that none of them were strays-- they were all owned by renters who just tossed them outside at night or abandoned them for others to feed.

The first night that my friends parked their car-- just a honda that was about 9 years old and not flashy-- the door was popped and the cd/mp3 player/radio was stolen along with other random and seemingly not-usually-stolen items such as school work and the like.

I am just glad that I got out of there asap-- I hope that you read this and understand that this is not the place to go if you want to be in a safe, drug-dealer-free zone. It's just not worth the risk.
