Resident 2003 - 2005

First I'll draw attention to positives
I love my apartment, the maintenance personnel is very prompt in their attention to concerns, and they have a nice weight room.
On the other hand; The amenities they do advertise are for the most part embellished a GREAT deal. They advertise a tanning bed, but it has been broken since before I moved in 2 years ago.(I really don't care, but you who read this might)
The spa did seem to be down more than it was up this past year. However, none of these things are that big of a deal to me. My biggest concern is the management or lack there of. I recently made an attempt to move from an upstairs apartment to a downstairs apartment that is larger and has been vacant for some time. My wife had broken her femur in half and has bad chronic pain in her leg ever since. we also have two children(ages 1 and 2) and an upstairs apartment is too difficult to swing these days. Anyways. I tried to reach an agreement with the manager(name is not necessary). I was hoping for some sort of break or maybe understanding in this matter. I understand I had to pay another deposit and rent and pro rating, etc. I have been quoted probably 5 different quotes and have caught the manager attempting to squeeze every penny she can out of me. I also have a garage unit which is seperate from my current rental agreement. She tried to add that into my rent with the pro-rating and I had to catch her and correct her there. I spoke with her on the telephone and came to an agreed amount of money to move in. When I went to sign the papers, she added another $250.00 on there and pretended like it was what she had told me on the phone. I'm glad I didn't sign the papers because it was written on there in a manner which I might have overlooked it had I not already been cautious of the situtation at hand.
In closing, I'm not angry that the manager wanted everything that the complex is entitled from me monetarily for the move, just the manner in which everything was handled. Not to mention the fact that my loyalty and readiness to sign another 1 year lease meant nothing to her. approximately more than 13k in rent is what they would get from me over the course of the next year not including my garage. All I can say is "Oh well" There loss is my next landlord's gain. I do believe it is harder to find and keep good tenants than to find and get rid of bad ones. So if you are looking for a complex that cares about your personal well being and one that takes care of good tenants, this is not the place for you. I hope my post can help some future tenants in their search for a good home.
