I didn't even move in and still had problems with the community.
I visited the property and indicated that I needed an apartment by a certain date. The General Mgr of the property indicated that a unit would be available so I put down a holding fee, signed an agreement, and paid the screening fee.
In the interim, I gave 30-days notice to my current landlord and foreclosed looking at other properties to move to.
About 3 weeks later I got a phone call from the assistant manager that the apartment I had signed an offer to rent for would not be available until a month after I needed it. Far from being helpful, the entire office staff was rude and refused to go out of their way to assist me. At first they were not even going to return my holding fee, but eventually they relented. However, according to them there is no way my screening fee will be refunded. That's ridiculous, as I was fraudulenty induced into writing a check for the screening.
On top of it all, they knew I am an attorney from day one. Talk about nerve. I will see them in court.
