These apartments were recently renamed Montreaux Apartments and are under new management. In all fairness, I hear that the new management didn´t realize the poor shape these units were in before they bought them. However, I think it is only fair to warn prospective tenants before they shell out the ludicrous $1400-1600 I see listed on RentNet for a one bedroom. They have only raised my rent $25 the entire time I´ve been here, but I think it is only a matter of time because they are charging $500-700 more on RentNet than I´m paying. You would like to think they would be fair & fix all of the serious maintenance problems on this property, but that is life in the Bay Area. Tenants have no rights & landlords have no scruples.

Prior management never truly fixed problems - only patched them up. For example, I complained that my apartment smelled like gas from the month I moved in. I was ignored and the maintenance man basically told me I was imagining it. A month after purchasing the place, however, current management discovers a gas leak in the main line. While they are fixing it, they discover that several of the units had leaks in the apartments as well. I guess I´m not crazy after all...let´s see if I get cancer now.
The carpet job is so cheap that I have ripples. Kitchen appliances are small because the kitchens are tiny. For example, the oven will only fit a small sized baking sheet. The plumbing is old & I have had problems with things draining (again, prior management ignored my maintenance requests). In fact, a neighbor of mind told me her bathroom has a leak from the shower upstairs (surprise - prior management ignored these maintenance requests). One good thing I will say is that the water pressure is good…kind of like taking a shower from a fire hydrant. Two things that will be hard to give up: great bedroom closet space & large balconies/yards (overlooking the scenic parking lot). If you have two cars, street parking is poor because the entire street is comprised of apartment buildings.

Current management is much more responsive to maintenance needs, but Roxanne (the woman who now runs the leasing office) is rude. So, which do you prefer - a dump or rude landlords? Take your pick - I´m looking for a new place.
