Resident 2011

4/5/2011

Talk to one of the current residents before you sign a lease here! They will tell you the truth about this horrible place! We have lived here for six months and cannot wait to move! Don't be fooled by the trendy decor, free snacks in the leasing office, and promise of a "community style" living experience. The units are highly upgraded with stainless steel appliances, granite counters, a wine cooler and even a dry bar! The flooring looks like hardwood floor, but I believe it to be something like linoleum. The units even come with a "European-design" washer/dryer. Sounds great. Here is the reality of the situation after living here for six months: 1) The building is old, the walls are thin, and there is very little noise insulation both from neighboring units (above, below, and aside). If your unit sides a hallway. You can be sure that around 3 AM the drunks will be screaming, stomping, and falling into the side of your apartment (which in our case is the master bedroom wall). 2) The hardwood floors are nice, but given that its an older building and it wasn't built with the intention of having hardwood floors, you can hear each and every step of the people living above you. Good luck if they're wearing heals. 3) This reminds me- the "Euro design" washer/dryer that they use as a selling point is a scam. While it only takes about an hour to wash a load, to dry one takes 4-5 hours (not including the cool-down period). 4) Our unit faces the pool, which was supposed to be a bonus, and we pay extra for it. If you're like me and usually enjoy having your windows open, forget about it. They want to create a trendy, young, fun atmosphere, and they believe they can accomplish this by blasting top-40 music down by the pool. And the music is on a one hour play list. I love Katy Perry and Lady Gaga as much as the next gay man, but hearing the same song repeated EVERY HOUR from 10AM until 8PM is enough to get on anyone's last nerve. If you're thinking about moving here, think twice. It's NOT worth the price, and all the things they sell you on are just gimmicks and cosmetics.
