We lived in Castlegate from April 2016-2017. We've had a difficult time with noisy neighbors, a strong marijuana odor, and having the mail service taken away for a month due to theft. We were told we are unable to move to a different open apartment within the complex.
We were trying to renew our lease in March 2017. I called twice, was told I would be called back (never was) and when I showed up for our renewal appointment, the office was closed and locked. Nobody called and there was no note notifying me that this was happening when I had an appointment scheduled with Jennifer. I left multiple voicemails and sent an email, with no response. I had to leave work early to go into the office and was told that the agent had been ill, and they were short staffed. I continually felt like I was given excuses, rather than a sincere apology, when the company had clearly made a mistake.
Edit: I changed my review from 2 stars to 1 because of the difficulty we have had in getting assistance from maintenance this month. Our sinks stopped draining properly, and calls to maintenance go to a voicemail line, which seems to not be checked regularly or at all. Not hearing back from anyone after leaving two voicemails in the span of a week is unprofessional and unacceptable.
When we left, I checked out by turning in our keys, pool pass, and parking passes. The woman at the desk had paperclips attached to all of her fingers (I can't make this up) and did not seem professional. I told her we needed to leave our forwarding address for our deposit to be returned, and she was insistent that you "do that at your new apartment."
The tricky thing about Castlegate is that the prices are cheap, the amenities are okay (consider the price), but needing anything from the office is difficult. It is incredibly difficult to get into contact with leasing agents and maintenance. Living here was fine, but when we actually needed things, the roadblocks were too high, and we did not end up renewing our lease.
