When we moved into our apartment in 3/07, it was filthy - they had supposedly had it cleaned again before we moved in because we had complained about the condition of the unit and it was no better. Things in there had not been kept up or fixed. The outside of the building was bad too. Maintenance was at our apartment numerous times - they either made the issue worse, or had to come back and fix it again because it was not done correctly the first time. There were mold issues in the bathroom - maintenance was there on 3-4 separate occasions, and it kept coming back. The only way it was resolved was that my husband did the work - after that no mold. The outdoor timers on our building did not come on until after it was dark, so you could not see in the breeze ways. I made several requests to the office staff to have them adjusted and nothing was ever done. They did not pick up or clean the apartments area - there was dog feces all over the grass, the sidewalks, parking lot and sometimes the stairs. There was also trash. We had to call the police on several occasions due to our neighbors. The flyer they give to you when you move in with a courtesy patrol number was incorrect. Our thermostat was broken and when maintenance came to fix it they said that it did not matter what it said - the thermostat would be saying 60 degrees and then another thermometer we had said it was 80 degrees. Our public service bills were extremely high because this issue was never resolved. Also our water heater did not work well - you could not even get a third of a tub of hot water. We moved out in 3/08 and requested something/a breakdown saying how much we owed for our final month - it was given to us on a sticky note; just the amount. We had to fax them a letter after over 60 days regarding our security deposit because it was never returned to us. We never received a final billing statement either. When I spoke with the office staff, I was informed it had gone to the wrong address (they had our correct address as well as phone number) and that it just got lost in the shuffle and it was not their fault. Under no circumstances would I recommend this complex to anyone and would discourage someone from moving there. This experience has also dissuaded us from ever looking at another Equity Residential property.
