Resident 2008 - 2009

12/12/2009

I was in a rush to get an apartment in lieu of transferring from out of state. I didn't want to be in a dorm and was told there was "campus apartments" that were available here at Bear Creek "Apartments." Indeed, I thought it was peculiar upon moving in and seeing on the wall "Weber Hall at Bear Creek Apartments." Upon moving in, I realized I was pretty much in a dorm with a kitchen, bathroom, living room, and separate bedrooms--not what I wanted, and not for $755/month for a cramped 2 bed 1 bathroom. A classmate had an apartment that was closer to campus, twice the size and with an extra bathroom for $700/month. Not only are you getting ripped off in terms of the actual real estate, but the management... you guessed it, CU students working part time who could care less if there's a leak, broken toilet, or rat infestation--which I had the pleasure of having all three. I guess I can't blame them, getting paid $7.00 an hour because the school is too cheap/pays the ------ football coach too much and can't afford proper on-site attendants. The walls are paper, to the point of hearing the people above you pinching a loaf (one night someone had bad diarrhea). Don't expect to have more than 4 people in the living room either, it is cramped as all hell. And don't think "oh yeah, this is CU Boulder, party time--woo!" There was not one weekend I was there when there was not a campus rent-a-cop car parked on the sidewalk of the building ready to pounce on revealers and bust them with an MIP or marijuana possession citation to bring the Boulder coffers more money. The "community assistants" are just buttboys for the cops as well who go out of their way trying to bust people. One of them caught me brining in liquor and asked for my ID--I told him to mind his own damn business. Don't be fooled by the "amenities." The buff bus is often late, I actually missed a test by half an hour because the Bus couldn't show up at 7:30 go get me to my 8:00 class. The internet is often slow, probably from the misfits living there downloading hentai and fetish porn--my roommate was a compulsive masturbator. There is always a smell in the hallway towards the end of the week, which goes away Sunday-Monday/Tuesday but comes back Tuesday/Wednesday, after the underpaid -------- workers clean the building on Sunday. Vomit in the halls, stairwell, and elevator is quite common, perhaps moreso than in Williams Village proper which is an actual dorm. It took 2 weeks to fix my toilet after placing a work order; I had to piss in the sink and take a dump in a paper bag and throw it out in the trash room--I'm not kidding. I still wonder why I didn't go crazy and start smearing my feces all over the building's walls. Rest assured, any 5 rating is from underpaid CA's to better plug this place. Do yourself a favor, find a proper apartment.
