Resident ā€¢ 2011 - 2012

5/30/2012

Do not live here under any circumstances! The street would be preferable!

I currently live at this complex and I cannot warn you against it enough. First of all, it is infested with cockroaches. I see them almost every day. Big ones, little ones, and best of all, the sinks and cupboards are constructed so poorly and cheaply that they are full of holes and cracks for the cockroaches to run and hide under. I have spent plenty of my own money investing in boric acid and traps for the cockroaches but it doesn't matter, the building is huge so they always have somewhere else to run and then come back later. Second, everyone thinks that since the complex was taken over by Greystar, it's a positive development and that the complex is better and more professional for it. Sure, they've repainted a little here and there, but everything still looks like s**t overall, inside and outside. Rust on all the buildings and stairs, but best of all, now that it's run by a huge company, they are experts at setting up rental policies designed to screw you over. They will not deal with you on a human level. You are a number to them, and they will set up unusual policies in your lease meant to squeeze as much money out of you as possible. Third, the facilities. Everything is so, so dirty. The elevator functions, but it ALWAYS smells like urine, the floor of it is always caked with something sticky and there's usually trash in it. The buttons have something mysterious smeared on them to the point that I am afraid to touch them. I never use the elevator unless I have to (ie carrying something heavy that I can't take up/down the stairs). The laundry rooms are also always filthy, and at least one of the machines is always broken in each laundry room. The office claims they have a cleaning service that comes once a week, but if that's the case then they should demand their money back because the floors in the laundry rooms are also always caked with something sticky and dirty. The machines themselves are badly in need of a cleaning. All the corners and crevasses are filled with accumulated dirt and dust and lint. I would be surprised if anyone has cleaned them the entire time I've lived here. Fourth, the customer service is just appalling. They turned the water off on the entire complex in the middle of the day for construction WITHOUT GIVING ANYONE ANY NOTICE. It stayed off for TWO AND A HALF HOURS. I don't understand how this isn't a breach of everyone's contract, but this is the kind of behavior you can expect from this company. Fifth, there are a lot of children and dogs who live in this complex. Many owners do not clean up after their pets, and there is always at least one dog yapping its head off and creating a noise disturbance for the other residents. There is no parental supervision at this complex and the children run around noisily all day long. Some people have had to put signs on their front door, asking parents to please stop their children from knocking on their door in the middle of the day for no reason. The children are also unattended in the pool, which has been broken constantly because of children dumping sand in the pool, and the complex does nothing to at least try to ask parents to supervise their children in common areas. Sixth, and this is not the office's fault, but it's still annoying- there is a large population of birds living in the parking lot. My car gets pooped on by birds just about every day, and there is zero covered parking available to anyone. There are lots more little things wrong with my apartment with regards to how old and cheap everything in it is- the finish on the sink is so cheap and is peeling off and stained (I don't do anything weird in my sink, just wash dishes!), the water pressure in the shower is terrible and changes temperature every minute, the track on the sliding closet door is rusted and is very difficult to open and close, the carpet is very old and worn and feels terrible under my feet, the ceilings are discolored and have lots of small holes (You have to sign an asbestos waiver when you move in). Apparently they don't impose any regulations on their residents as to how clean they keep their apartments, and the apartment two down from mine smells SO STRONGLY of B.O. that I can smell it everytime I walk by, even if all their windows and doors are closed. It's disgusting. Don't live here. It's $200 cheaper than everywhere else nearby for a reason! So they can suck you in and then rip you off!
