Resident 2014

7/20/2014

Fairly obvious that most of the reviews on here are fake. Most people hate living in apartments, and won't hesitate to let you know about it, and most of them especially don't go out of their way to specifically name their favorite manager and grounds keeper. The fact that they try to bump up their ratings with such obvious BS, and expect people to actually fall for it is, quite frankly, offensive. I lived here for about a year. This place is your typical affordable apartment. All in all, it's not TOO terrible, if you have your expectations in the right place. It's not going to be great, but most of the complaints I have are just your typical set of problems you'll run into at any budget apartment: Neighbors are bad, unruly kids running all over the place, you see cops showing up every now and then, maintenance takes a while to get to you since they have their hands full all the time, crummy neighborhood (hey, it's Brighton after all), yadda yadda. It's a good price, and while they look nice on the outside, you get what you pay for. The construction in my place was pretty bad. As you'd expect, the walls were paper thin. I had leaks in just about every place you could get leaks. If you inspect all the counters and cabinets, you can see just how cheaply this place was thrown together. The place was in bad shape when I moved in, and when I moved out, they tried to nickle and dime me for every last thing they could, even though those things were specifically noted as already being screwed up on my arrival. A very specific complaint that I have is that I was surrounded by smokers, which basically meant I might as well have been a smoker too--since again, poor construction and thin walls meant that all of it flooded into my place. I despise smoking, and have lost family members to lung cancer. I have never smoked a day in my life. Despite the fact that I made fully documented complaints to management that I hated the smoke, and wanted to be moved to a different unit (they never moved me), they also tried to charge me for damages to the apartment due to the cigarette smell when I moved out. I got out of it, but was still very insulted that they tried to pull that on me in the first place, and gave me resistance when I initially protested. Yeah, management here is just soooooo ~*~wonderful~*~
