Adviner is a company that cares nothing for its residents and tries to squeeze every dime they can out of them. While I was a resident I was constantly lied to, they would tell you your rent was once price and then when you went to pay it was magically much more. This even happened when we first moved it, I was told one amount for the move in fee, then it was magically higher. When questioned the office lady who had told me the price had been fired. I should have known then to run the other way. The same lady who was fired also told me that my son would be allowed to have his pet beared dragon, come to find out a few months later that was not the case, and my 8 year old son was forced to rehome his favorite pet. When I had maintenance concerns, they have would take almost a week. Several times my packages were given to the wrong people. No one even apologized for giving my mail away. The apartment that I rented and payed almost 1600 a month for was constantly cold and drafty and when asked why I was told that the heater fan wasn't large enough to blow the heat through the whole apartment. I was told to choose what rooms that needed heat and close vents in the other rooms, I had to have a cold living room and bedroom so my kids wouldn't freeze, but even this didn't work. I had to risk plugging in a space heater, just so my children could sleep in the freezing cold apartment. For this price of apartment, you shouldn't have to plastic wrap the drafty windows and use space heaters. The upgraded cabinets were cheap veneer that was constantly trying to peel, so I would have to glue them down. My husband and I were very good about always paying our rent on time. But one month my aunt passed away and in all of the chaos I turned in my rent a day late, which wouldn't have been late but they don't have a drop box. I was charged $100 extra and no one cared about the reason or that it was our first offense. I didn't have the extra $100, so I was charged even more. At the time my lease came up, they called and asked if we were going to renew. My husband and I considered staying in spite of everything, because we didn't have deposit money to move. So I had them write up another lease, however my husband was laid off and we couldn't afford the extra $105 a month rent increase. I called the office and explained that we couldn't renew. They informed me that even though our lease was up on August 19th, that we were financially responsible for the property until September 9th, because they require a 60 day notice. They also told me that after the lease term on the 19th, I would have to pay the month to month rate which was 2100 a month! I explained that the reason that we had to leave was because we couldn't afford to stay, but they didn't care. I called the corporate office, who also didn't care. I was told that I could leave on August 5th and pay the rent until that day, and that I could make payments for the rest I owe until the end of the 60 day notice. I paid that rent until the 5th and left the apartment in very good order. I just recieved a statement that I owe them almost $4,000. Even though the apartment is already rented, they are still charging me until Sep 9th. I am going to be paying them for a very long time, and I am hoping that this doesn't ruin my family's chance of buying a home. At the end of the day Adviner only cared about making money, not about the people who call their community home.
