My wife and I moved to the Windsor directly from Northern Virginia. One of the things that appealed to us about it was that it is surrounded by the Bear Creek Park. We saw coyotes, prairie dogs, etc. and frequently went for walks on the grounds or in the park after work.

Overall, we liked the Windsor alot. The Windsor staff was helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, equitable, and when things broke they were quick to fix items.

We lived in a townhome (the Prince William floor plan). If you can afford it and it is available, this is the way to go. You only have neighbors on either side of you (not above, below, in front, or behind). Our back porch faced the greenspace and bike paths, so it was a nice, quiet view. We also had a 2-car garage which is a good thing in winter here. We owned a townhouse in VA, so we were used to this layout.

Although the Windsor is gated, that was not our primary motivation for moving there. We liked the proximity to Rt. 285, restaurants, the park, and the place seemed nice and well-kept.

I have read some of the other reviews and have to agree that one downside was the noise factor. The walls were kind of 'paper-thin' and you could hear other neighbors at times (usually their T.V. or music). We also felt the workmanship of some items (e.g., vanities, fixtures, etc.) was not the most sturdy, but it worked for our needs.

Parking was ok for us, but not as ample as we would prefer. We had the garage and the space in front of it, but if we wanted to have friends over there were some extra spaces, but not many.

Overall we liked the Windsor and only moved out because we bought a new house up in the foothills; wanting to try mountain living. We told the staff that if it wasn't for that we would have continued to stay there. My wife and I would recommend the Windsor if one is renting, in spite of the occasional noise from the neighbors, because the beauty of the grounds, the friendly/helpful staff, and excellent location outweighed the occasional noise.
