Resident 2014 - 2015

7/19/2015

We were very hopeful after visiting the Glenbrook and choosing to sign our lease. However, tonight was most definitely the straw that broke the camel's back with regards to this establishment. Let's start from the beginning -- we first moved in last September to a two bedroom apartment. The apartment itself was, for the most part, in good condition and we were able to note any items that we felt needed addressing on a form. The apartment itself is nice enough and the grounds are well kept. The first issue arose when our shower wasn't draining and the water fluctuated from ice cold to scorching hot. Maintenance came out to fix the issue and we went without being able to shower in our apartment for approximately 24 hours, no big deal. We have a gaping hole in the wall where the sheetrock was removed to fix the shower but it's in the spare bedroom closet so we don't mind all that much. Most of the other things we noted were cosmetic, a yellow paint spot in the carpet, cracked panel on the stove, etc. Again, we have no huge issue with these things. What we do have a problem with is how certain things are addressed. For example, just tonight I called the "emergency" maintenance line because our apartment has the emergency lights on in the hallway and no hot water. Apparently, this is NOT an emergency and the individual on the phone told me that all she could do was take my name and tell them to give me a call in the morning. This is unacceptable. If a situation such as this one does not constitute an "emergency" than I am EXTREMELY curious as to what does. Lastly, there was the whole my boyfriend's car got stolen from here and management told us that they couldn't do anything because they didn't want to incite paranoia in the community by asking if anyone knew or saw anything... Oh, and the whole it was an "isolated" incident thing... We spoke to multiple Rocky Hill police officers, it happens all the time in this area due to the high volume of apartments and town-homes. So if you move in, make sure you have a working LOUD car alarm and not an older Honda Civic... Long story short, I don't regret living here but it most certainly made us realize that we will NOT be renewing our lease and that this area is most definitely not for young people as the hallways are often filled with the sound of slamming doors and screaming children.
