I've actually had a good experience at Knollwood. I live in a single bedroom, $750/month (2014-2015). Last year it was $900 I think. I haven't had any pest problems - they had people come and check my apartment for that. My apartment was actually renovated right before I moved in, and I'm happy with it. Electricity isn't included, heat is floor heating. The heating gets expensive in the winter (can be over $200 in a really cold month if you keep it up around 68 degrees), so keep that in mind. If a pipe freezes, management sends maintenance over really fast. I only had that happen on the coldest day of the year (kitchen pipes were fine, only bathroom.) First floor apartments tend to get it more commonly. When it snows, they clean the walkways, parking spaces, steps and stairs really well and quickly. The roads are cleared fairly well. When I had a problem with an outlet in my bathroom they sent someone over really quickly. It's really close to campus which is great and lets you sleep in as much as possible for any 8am classes. There's a bus stop next to the complex on S. Eagleville. The sound isolation isn't very good and you can hear your neighbors, but thankfully mine are pretty quiet. It's a quiet complex overall, I haven't heard any big parties or anything like that. I haven't had any problems with management, except that some years they decrease the rent, and then increase it again the next year. People are allowed to have pets for an extra fee, so keep in mind that your neighbors might have a dog.
