I moved into Southwind about 6 months ago. The location is convenient- it is literally two seconds away from i91 Northbound and about a minute or two from i91 Southbound. The apartment grounds are pretty- it's well taken care of. The main office is very nice, as well as the apartments surrounding it. There is a basketball court, tennis court, and a swimming pool. It's in a wooded area, so that's nice. All of the apartments have decks with storage. I live in a studio. Rent is $759. Utilities are not included. But electricity is provided by the Town of Wallingford and it's not all that expensive. Like $30-$70 per month. I don't make much money, so the rent and utilities are perfect for me. There is a little gym....two treadmills, a weight machine, and an old elliptical. I used it for a few months but then decided to join a gym in North Haven. The apartment I live in got re-carpeted before I moved in. The carpet is beautiful and clean. The apartment got a paint job before I moved in, too. When you walk in, it looks very bright and clean. The kitchen stove could be better. But there is a good dishwasher, a garbage disposal, and lots of cabinet space. The bathroom is just fine. The windows need to be updated and are prone to mold. But bleach and elbow grease can fix that. There's enough closet space. The bottom line is, live here if you can't afford anything better. If you can afford something better- go to Avon Walk in Hamden...it's newer, better amenities, etc, but rent starts at $950 for a studio. I might move because of the pet policy-- only cats are allowed.
