The Eliot on 4th community is great, and we have been living here for 3 years now because of the quality of the facilities, amenities, proximity to metro, monuments, and wharf, and relaxing community. Unfortunately, a number of safety incidents have arisen in recent months, and the responses by management (including Mill Creek Residential as a company) have ranged from ineffective to pathetic. The management team seems far more interested in sending out promos for group yoga and painting classes than communicating clearly and quickly when gunshots were fired and clearly heard in the building. It took over 15 hours for any message to come to all residents clarifying that there was no active threat. At the very, very least, management should have promptly responded by phone and/or email to residents like me who reached out asking if we could come home safely after reports of multiple gunshots and police on site. Especially given that Mill Creek said they would mark my call as urgent and would call back. Neither my partner nor I received any call back. Management has also not been consistent about enforcement of reasonable COVID measures and guest policies. I was told directly in writing: "the unfortunate part is that we can't force residents to follow the rules." Well then I guess the lease doesn't mean anything. To be clear, the front desk concierge and maintenance staff (separate from management company) are fantastic and manage a lot of issues that management and corporate should address far more effectively. The leasing staff also have been helpful with the process for renewals and transfers. But the sheer incompetence in crisis response and lackluster enforcement of community procedures unfortunately overshadows the friendly, helpful staff who are present consistently.
