Resident 2007 - 2008

12/11/2008

Eh, not worth the ridiculously high rent.

My boyfriend and I have lived at Post Mass Ave for just about 2 years now, and it's been a very mixed experience. The first year, they gave us a great deal, and then i was able to negotiate down the rent increase for the second year. Now, what they're asking for a tiny (760 sq ft) one bedroom is RIDICULOUS. With parking and utilities, this one bedroom would cost me close to $3,000 a month. The rooftop deck is wonderful, and we've used the grills a lot, but haven't used the pool much because every time we try to use the pool, there's some kid splashing water everywhere on the deck. It's a great place to see the 4th of July fireworks. Our apartment is tiny and is a very odd layout, except that we do have an amazingly large walk-in closet. The fixtures (cabinets, carpets, etc) are very very cheap. The rack in our closet completely collapsed one day! They fixed it right away, but it looks like it's about to collapse any minute.... Also, the walls are very thin - we hear the elevator ding every time it opens, and we hear EVERYONE in the hallway and in the apartment next to us. The staff (maintenance, front desk, management office) is wonderful. When we first moved there in Feb 2007, the management was horrible, but there's a new manager and he's great. Management is very responsive (which obviously is expected with rents so high), and maintenance requests are handled almost immediately, with a few exceptions. Also, building is very safe, we usually don't lock our door when we're home and have never had a problem. Parking is very expensive, but we've had a good deal for parking, where we pay almost nothing (this is ending soon though). Overall, great building if you're only expecting to be there a very short time, but for longer term stays (2 years) don't bother. You'll end up having to move because it gets so expensive and the apartment itself starts falling apart! We're moving out in February and very much looking forward to getting more value for our money at our new place.
