There has been a shooting in the complex since we've moved. http://www.cfnews13.com/content/news/cfnews13/news/article.html/content/news/articles/cfn/2013/1/30/searching_for_altamo.html
We had been living there for 10 months. The other residents are loud and disrespectful on a daily basis. We have had our property damaged by children breaking our window, and it took them two days to fix it after we informed them. Children run wild outside my apartment and frequently block my doorstep by loitering, and I have complained several times via phone and email and I never received a single response or acknowledgement of this persistent problem. The other adult neighbors also throw knives at the fences outside my apartment. I have pictures of these things that I wish I could upload. The walls are thin, and you can hear people watching tv next door. The apartment itself is very plain and the paint is very badly done. You can see where they painted over electrical outlets and light switches. There was something seriously wrong with our electric when we first moved in. The stove was constantly blowing circuit breakers because the wiring was off, which caused us to have extremely high electric bills and a barely working stove/oven. Our a/c broke within the first month, and when they replaced it our electric bill doubled. I wish I was exaggerating. The management company doesn't respond to any problems (specifically noise pollution and property damage by children), and maintenance only responds to calls when a woman phones them. When my boyfriend calls, it takes them several days to respond, but if I call, they come right over. It's weird and creepy. I've called right after him and gotten things done immediately when they told him it would take days. They claim that they spray for bugs, but they've only done this once since I've been here, and there are definite roach and spider issues. This place is in a good location, except you are across the street from train tracks, and the trains blow whistles day and night. The place is basically falling apart. The kids broke our window and our blinds, but we still have to pay to replace the blinds, and they are making us pay by a certain date so that it can't just come out of our security deposit later. They want it fixed immediately, I assume so they can take more money out of the deposit. We aren't staying here another year. I've lived in the Orlando area for more than 6 years, and this is absolutely the loudest place I have ever lived. They have raised their rent and have begun requiring renter's insurance, which puts their total cost up much higher than they advertise. They charge $53 for water, which is higher than your monthly bill would be anywhere else. It's gotten to be very expensive to live in an awful place.
We moved before our lease was up just to avoid living there a minute longer than necessary.
