When we first saw Ashford, we were impressed by the gorgeous fountain at the entrance that creates a playful, restful, resort-like atmosphere; the well-placed apartment buildings that blend with the woodsy property; the diligent, friendly maintenance staff on their golf carts; the very approachable and professional leasing office staff; and the unobtrusive gated areas. To further this very positive impression, our leasing agent, Charles, walked us down to the main pool area with a complimentary gas powered barbecue area and boardwalk to Lotus Lake where we enjoyed a fresh breeze, lilies and birds. We were offered and accepted flooring and appliance upgrades for a reasonable price. So, Ashford became our home where we met great neighbors and our relatives and friends soon came to visit and share our good fortune. I especially enjoy watching the young ones congregate at the bus stop, which is on the property and close to my apartment, and their " Good morning, abuelita", which makes me very happy. Unfortunately, the apartments are not getting any younger and sorely need to be upgraded, the gates don't work, the imposed valet garbage collection is a disaster and nasty, the main garbage compactor breaks down a lot, access to the gas barbecue station is cumbersome, and the rental prices and neighbor turnover keep going up and up. Nevertheless, this community is a work in progress, Victoria's leadership, especially in response to the Covid-19 pandemic is admirable and I am happy to be part of it.
