Resident 2008 - 2012

10/24/2012

I have lived at Village of Town Center for several years now and have some pretty strong feelings about things here. First of all, it's affordable and that is probably the main reason why I have lived there so long, other than its affordability, there are not really many good points about the place. The gym is nice; it has some great equipment and is rarely used by residents. There is a really nice pool. However, the large groups of unsupervised teenage kids that tend to gather and cause issues takes away from the enjoyment. Despite several police officers living on property there is a bit of a drug problem and police cars are becoming more frequently present to deal with issues in the community. Management refuses to enforce rules for a fear of people leaving (Which can be observed around the 10th of every month). It's quite obvious that management's inability to manage effectively and enforce its own rules is a major problem. I have never felt really welcome by property management. It seems like whenever you have a maintenance issue or need something addressed you get the feeling that you are being blown off. Maintenance is horrible and can be plain out rude. There doesn't appear to be any form of work order system or notification given that they have performed work that needs done. Some of the language used by maintenance is deplorable and their attitude towards questions or concerns is anything but welcoming. I know of two residents that were without Air Conditioning for weeks through summer, one tenant has had a hole in their ceiling for months and another has had a light hanging by its wires for an unacceptable amount of time. Yes, there is an emergency maintenance number you can call but their voicemail box is always full and if you do somehow manage to get ahold of someone it is extremely unlikely that you will get them to come out, their definition of emergency is different to what is defined as a maintenance emergency in the lease. It is a gated community. However, the security gate has been out of action for longer than its worked. It was supposedly fixed over a month ago, however it's still not working. The condos are certainly not luxury condominiums as they are advertised, don t get me wrong it's not a slum but it's sure not luxury living. The fire alarm system is a joke. Two times in the past month has the building alarm sounded and the worst part is that it's not even tied into the fire department. One of the times it took 1 1/2 hours to get anyone out to turn the alarm off and the only way the fire department knew of the issue was because someone called 911. The property manager lives on site so why 1 1/2 hours to turn the alarm off? Second time it was only about an hour. There are some major financial problems with the company running the place; these problems have been relayed by maintenance as part of their excuse for not having certain things available for replacement or repair. I don t intend to sound demanding or callous but I am sorry, that is not my problem. I pay my rent and expect them to fulfill their obligations as stated in the lease. I will say that if anyone decided to move in here accept it for what it is, go in with your eyes wide open and you probably won't mind it here. When we moved in, we were sold on the promise of fast and efficient maintenance, the gated community aspect and the friendly neighborhood feel. None of these things have been as promised.
