Resident 2011 - 2013

5/29/2013

I do not recommend this complex unless you get the townhome Bedroom A, in which case it is probably a great place for you. Unfortunately, I lived in Bedroom B. It's expensive rent for unimpressive and cramped living. In Bedroom B, I pay $25/month more than my roommate in Bedroom A, who has a bedroom twice my size, walk-in closet, bathroom with jets (a "spa" bathroom) which I do not have, and is in a hallway away from the stairs, meaning that they have far more privacy and quiet. I had stayed in that room for a few days during the moving process and thought that it was a very quiet and spacious living area. Unfortunately my room was the complete opposite, with an extremely cramped bedroom (I do not have a lot of stuff and generally like small spaces but this was incredibly uncomfortable), very small sliding door closet, and far less privacy and quiet. The walls within the apartment are extremely thin, and there is a vent above my bedroom door into the hallway, which is directly in front of the stairs. Therefore, I hear everything outside of my room and even noise from the other bedroom. The floors are extremely creaky, so I can tell whenever someone is coming up the stairs and whenever I'm in the living room area, I can hear my rooommate walking around above me. The positive is that the downstairs area is very spacious. Unfortunately, the tenants below me insisted on listening to booming bass music, meaning that I could both hear and feel it through the floorboards, ruining my attempt to relax or get work done unless I turned up the TV twice as loud as normal. Utilities are close to $200 a month because the upstairs floor does not cool well at all and therefore the AC is always on, even if I keep it at the highest temperature I can tolerate. While you are close to the mall, bus stop, and I-75, that means that outside noise is a serious issue from the buses (starting as early as 6 am and ending as late as 2 am) and sometimes even I-75. Nothing like hearing drunk college kids at 1 in the morning shout at each other as they stumble back to their apartments. Oh and there was even a circus in the mall parking lot, meaning that my apartment was noise-ridden for at least 2 hours every night for close to a week. That's also not what I would like to hear after a long day at class or work. So unless you're a deep sleeper (I wish I was), expect to get woken several times throughout the night or early morning. Pest "control" was horrible. There are (giant) roaches that show up far too frequently. I called the complex about this repeatedly, and they scheduled pest control to spray the inside of the apartment. Not two weeks later, there was yet another visitor in the exact same area! Living in Florida for all my life, I know that actually seeing roaches means there is a serious infestation. And I see them a lot. Pets and parking are other two major issues with this place. There is far too little parking available, and god forbid you try to park by your apartment after 6pm. I have often had to park on the other side of the complex (about a quarter mile away) and walk back to my apartment at 2 in the morning, which while the apartment isn't necessarily unsafe, it's not safe and it's also ridiculous. Parking spaces are far too narrow and entirely unenforced; there have been multiple instances of cars taking up two whole spaces because of their inept parking and staff does nothing about it. Visitor parking is unevenly spaced, and most of it is again on the other side of the complex. Even though the downstairs area is great for entertaining, it's impossible to do so for more than 1 or 2 visitors unless you want to go for a pre and post dinner walk. The pet policy is ridiculously overpriced and they do have breed/weight restrictions, even though it's not actually enforced. The staff though are all nice, so that is a bonus, although I've been in other complexes that are just as nice. So it's not a "super awesome" plus to all the other issues. I cannot wait to move out of this place and would only recommend this complex to someone I really don't like.
