I'm a former resident of the Fairpointe, I moved out quite some time ago but my wedding, Coronavirus, etc. postponed me writing a review until now. I'm reading all these reviews on the Fairpointe and I see some 1-star reviews (some which I can understand why), then suddenly multiple 5-star reviews directly after (a few in a week's time) and the sudden surge of positive reviews and the timing seems pretty sketchy to me. But I'll tell my own experience. I didn't have much interaction with customer service or management here so can't judge on that, but it came down to this place or another in the area for me to rent, and I should've gone for the other. I would walk out all the time to see dog crap laying around, even in the dog park area - was hardly ever cleaned. Noise through the walls (paper thin) - very annoying but I can't request for the walls to be changed out. Just the overall quality was pretty low. Fitness center was really small and inadequate. When I first signed my lease, I noticed that in the lease-break options section it gives two choices ("a" or "b"); it is pre-selected at "a" - the much less desirable option which charges you a whopping $2330 to move out early (plus 2 additional months' worth of rent since you're required to give 2 months' notice - even with the early termination fee - which, in total, equates to upwards of $4,000) or "b" which states you don't agree to the charges. But when you try to click on "b" to change it, the form doesn't allow you to, almost like that's not an option for you to select. Big problem because you're literally not able to select option "b" on your lease, forcing you to pay thousands - thousands - to move out early if you wanted. Regardless, if you want to select option "a" then the $2330 early termination fee should suffice to be its own penalty without having to be responsible for an additional two months of rent. So moving out on the spot for another job opportunity in another state wasn't an option for me since I'd be responsible for paying over 4K to do so. Pure greed. I asked some other tenants about this issue on the lease and one resident agreed they had the same issue when signing on and thought it was intentional. I believe it's unethical, and I think this company is dishonest. Wonder how many other residents aren't speaking up - really disturbing to overcharge and manipulate your tenants like this. The place really didn't meet expectations.
