STAY FAR AWAY from this predatory corporate apartment complex! My fiancé and I needed housing in this area for a year while he attended Full Sail University. This place seemed perfect with its convenient location to campus and walking distance to my employer. When we went to apply in May 2017, they only asked for our social security and drivers license information. No prior landlord or employer/income information was asked for. Which I found odd. I was nervous because both our credit scores were in the high 500's and thought we would be denied. To our surprise, they called us back the next day approving us with a security deposit of $913. They set a move-in date and started the lease date for Monday, 29th at 9am. We packed up a uHaul and drove to the front office on the scheduled day of May 29th eager to move-in. SHOCKINGLY the office was CLOSED for Memorial Day! CLOSED! We franticly called the only 2 office numbers we had for Lakeside Villas and no one answered us. This was our first nightmare with this apartment complex and the way they handle their tenants. So disappointed. We had to pay for a hotel room until the office opened the next day on Tuesday, May 30th. We complained to the office and to manager Jasmine, but all they did was say we can credit you for one day which was $15 and apologized! Unreal! Since the contract was already signed for a year we were stuck with them. Moving forward I will give you a few warnings on this apartment complex; 1) The air conditioner broke and it took 2 days for "maintenance" to fix it. 2) Ants and Roaches live in the walls since day 1. 3) The office people are rude AFTER you sign the lease. 4)They will rent to ANYWAY even with a credit score in the 400s. In conclusion: The lease finally was coming to an end and I informed Jasmine in person in the office early March 2018 that we will NOT be renewing the lease and she said fine just drop me an official letter in writing. Jasmine NEVER said that it is mandatory to type up this 'letter' exactly 2 months BEFORE our move-out date. They use this predatory tactic so they can keep ALL of your security deposit...ALL! In the end, they REFUSED to refund ANY of our security deposit and EVEN sent us to a COLLECTION AGENCY saying we OWE $480 for OWING them a FULL MONTHS RENT because we didn't "inform" the office in writing 2 months before our move-out date we will not be renewing. UNREAL! I had to borrow money for my next apartment from family members! They are HORRIBLE and Jasmine in the office should be FIRED for her rudeness and stealing our security deposit! Now our credit scores are in the low 500s with them sending us to a collection agency!! Please stay informed, do your research and be very resourceful when searching for apartment's in the Orlando area! Best of luck out there and stay AWAY from Lakeside Villas!
