Magnolia Pointe Apartments

I moved here at the beginning of this year and have had a great experience so far. I have had to call the maintenance men a few times for common items such as a clogged drain, even down to changing a light bulb. I was impressed when my heat pump went out, I went less than 10 hours before they had installed a completely new a/c-heat pump unit for my apartment. The service here is amazing, there are amenities such as a nice well-lit laundry facility as well as a pool, children's play area, and free high speed internet access. There is also security which patrols the parking lot after hours, 24-hour emergency maintenance, friendly staff, and relatively quiet neighborhood. The apartments are spacious and well put together, plenty of room for the price, and are also painted in an attractive Navajo White color over an orangepeel texture. Tenants are permitted to paint and decorate as they please, change out light fixtures and add ceiling fans based on the trust that when the tenant moves they will repaint the apartment to it's original color (which is kept on file at the 23rd Street Home Depot). Pest control is included in the price of the apartment and can be called upon anytime during the month if needed between the scheduled monthly treatments (second Monday of the month around 9:30am). Cable from Knology can be added to your rent for an additional $35.00 a month, and discounted bundle packages (phone, internet and cable)are available through Knology's Magnolia Pointe representative [Natasha (850)215-9690)]. There is plenty of room in the kitchen and there is actually a pantry area inside a folding door that is large enough for shelving, the water heater, and a washer/dryer set so all of it is conveniently and inconspicuously located. The dishwasher is a basic model but has the pot and pan scrubber mode and does relatively well and runs quietly. The refrigerators are equipped with automatic ice makers, also included in kitchen appliances is a decent sized stand alone microwave. The front bathroom is very spacious for an apartment and has a cute cubbyhole for towels and guest amenities. Both closets in the large rooms provide ample space for storage and clothing. The living room is open to the kitchen and features a large 5-foot window surrounded by two 2-foot windows. The apartment thus far is very energy efficient. I have rented in Panama City before and I can say that for the cost of rent, this is an extremely good deal although you have to qualify to rent through their standards for minimum and maximum income allowments.

Now for the cons-
*I would have preferred that the set up of the bedrooms was a little different only that the hallway was not split into a type of 'Y' at the end. It does add more space to the hallway but gives the rooms an awkward corner.
*Magnolia Pointe is hard to get an apartment at as the waiting list is about 3 months long, I waited almost 1 year to the day to move in after filling out my application, although I was not pursuant in calling and checking for apartments.
*There are no elevators in any of the apartment buildings even though there are 3 floors, which makes it a hassle to move larger items such as desks, washer and dryer sets, and couches.
*Unfortunately this apartment complex is not located in the best of neighborhoods as this is a known drug area, although I do not at all feel insecure or unsafe in my apartment or on the grounds, as tenants are screened and there are actually good decent people living here.
*Upon moving in, the living room and the second bedroom do not have light fixtures. The living room can be well lit by the kitchen flourescents, but the second bedroom is a problem. The master bedroom came with a ceiling fan, but is not equipped with a light fixture in it either. The master can be well lit by the vanity lights over the sink though so this does not prove to be a problem either.

Other than that, living here is nice. They have planned events for families and children for holidays and encourage participation to build a stronger sense of community. It is quiet at nights and the apartment is bright and lively during the day. I would reccommend this apartment to any of my family or friends and definately encourage anyone to come talk to Stephanie Lyng in the main office about filling out an application!
